I have to agree with jld_slcik....this song does sound exactly like "People Get Ready". I mean if you listened to both songs without lyrics, they would be the same. Does anyone know if Mayer was trying to cover/update the Mayfield song or is this song just extremely close to Mayfield's? |

Just a follow up to my own comment lol....I think what maybe is trying to be said is that we need to do something, but that we have to wait (and keep trying) until the world changes and catches up with us....I'm just not sure that point is made as well as it could be, I think if you look at the words it more goes with what I said before. |

I like this song, but it seems to contradict itself. I mean basically what is being said in the song is that there are a lot of problems in the world, but we cannot do anything about them so we just have to wait for them to change. Its kind of wierd, because when you are listening to it, maybe not really analyzing the words, just listening to the music it sounds like it would be a song that would inspire people to do something about all they don't like, but when you really look at it, it is saying we can't do anything so just sit and wait. |

I think that this song is definately about the what ifs that Chris Martin has in life. Mainly I think its about what if Gwyneth Paltrow left him or he did something wrong that he couldn't fix and she left him because of it. |

I am a big Eminem fan, but I am also voting for Bush. As for this song, obviously I dont agree with everything he says, but he is a master or words and writing these songs and no one can deny that. As for politics mixing with entertainment, I am not a big fan of celebrities going out and using their status to try and persuade voters. Obviously everyone has the right to say what they want, but when it comes down to voting I hope everyone looks at the issues and not what Eminem or Ben Affleck or Leonardo Dicaprio say. |

I think the song is about being yourself, but I think it is written from a celebrity form of view. That you don't have to change who you are to become famous or touch people with your work. When he says I am surrounded by liars, imposters, and identity crisis....think about how many fake people are in showbiz. The song is saying be true to yourslef even if people try to change you. |
