Because Mangum wrote "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" after reading Anne Frank's biography. It could also be about Ryan Adams. He wrote "Love is Hell" while trying to cope with the death of his girlfriend Carrie Hamilton. Another form could allude to the fact that Adams has stated he will no longer make solo albums. It's a reach, but who knows. |

I think this song is about his mother. His mom rushes in his room on Easter morning to tell him "he is risen"...like, get up little boy easter has come. And then he moves into talking about how his mother gives him strength when he was weak, and he hopes that someday she'll be proud of him. |

winners never quit, as potrayed in the cd booklet, is an allusion to suicide. the character was such a failure that he killed himself, it's satircal, david is saying that it's just as well that the character killed himself because he was so far gone that he probably wouldn't have had a second chance anyway |
