I think that interpretation of the "bone in your hand" has more to do with a metaphor for having nothing more to bring to the relationship. A bone is a meatless, and when you come with a bone in your hand there is nothing there to give. Great song though, especially for those of us who have gotten out of bad relationships that we spent way too much energy trying to save. |

I agree, this song is very deep, and is an amazing performance on the album. The piano is great. I think this is all about how as much as we have people in our lives, sometimes its the solitude of being the only person who truly knows ourselves can be trying. Everyone's just waiting for their own turn Kind of like show and tell. -- this to me is about how in reality we are all truly alone, and even though there are people we can count on, it is sometimes only contingent upon them. Sometimes we only have that imaginary friend to confide in, because there is a lot of people who use other people as a means of achieving success, and then cut them off. |
