I think it's highly possible that it is about Kurt - but maybe the name is a of one of his friends that he lost touch with. Maybe losing Kurt made him realize that he didn't want to lose Johnny Park forever, either, so he wrote the song about losing Kurt, but didn't want to call attention to that fact and named it after his friend Mr. Park. |

I think it's pretty straight-forward... serious relationships produce pain, so neither of them are looking for anything too serious. But companionship is always nice, and so this song is about just wanting someone to be around, something without a lot of complications. |

I definitely see it more like him being in a relationship and wanting more. Because he mentions ultimatums, and he mentions that it "could've been good," the word could've implying to me that it didn't get the chance to develop into what he wanted. |

Maybe you were the only person singing along because it's annoying when people sing the lyrics out at concerts.
I think it's about the loneliness and monotony of life (not neccessarily suburban since the band lives in urban Seattle), but also how perfect and un-flawed we try to be for other people ("you create someone"), even if we're just by ourselves. |

I think it's about un-requited love, and wanting someone who wants to be single, especially with the line "with the right revolting piety of tone, the word 'freedom' can make you want to lock yourself in a deep, dark dungeon," because it sucks when you're lonely, and everyone is just talking about how they love being single. |
