| Death Cab for Cutie – Soul Meets Body Lyrics

I hate to say it guys. But this song is EXACTLY like being on mushrooms at the beach. There is nothing that could convince me this song isn't about tripping--as you get stuck where your soul meets your body. You have thoughts you must send away on the greyhound to keep you sane. You try to dig around in dirt having fun then you realize your dirt and you can cleanse yourself (beyond the dirty hands, its a spiritual thing). Obviously in the song he is with some brown-eyed girl and the love just come over him. After a while it becomes so much you just float away in your head with a melody...
I am not saying go do shrooms but if someone had to describe a good trip I would play this song. |

As noted by my comment on "One of these days" I believe that this is song is about the release most of us have at the end of an extremely stressful day. The stressful day is played out in "One of these days" |

When I listen to this album I am reminded of a typical daily cycle. I feel the first song is a daily experience right up until the point of a release (drug induction?) which is when "A Pillow of Winds" starts. Up until that point everything is so stressful but that is life and we many of us deal with it by releasing in some way at the end of the day. |

In the beginning of the album there is the sound of a rollercoaster ascending. I believe this is aluding to the strage feeling of anxiety and elevation right before a drug like acid will kick in, then when the song switches to Breathe it is the beginning of the trip. |

I made the mistake(?) of listening to this entire album (like I do almost every day) right as my hardest trip ever hit me. I basically felt insane and scitsofrenic for what seemed like a lifetime. There is no doubt that this album is about insanity but to me, this album is a warning that we are all not far enough from our point of insanity. |
