I think Puddle and tubsocks hit the nail on the head. I can see how both of those relate to the song. I always saw it as how someone is lonely and they can only share their feelings with someone who can only listen (the birds) and so they don't have to deal with people. Great song. |

Why does everyone insist on every song being about drugs? Drugs have enough versitality that you could relate any song to them. But anyways, I think this song is what Kiefy said. Caring about someone but not being able to tell them or be with them. |

Good song, and like Joshua Can Funk said, most good songs can be put into different meanings for a more personal view. I find a lot of the Chili peppers stuff to be like that. |

I would say this about being a loner and whatnot. The line "Take me to the place I love" gives me the idea that he is kind of saying that people are not always the best company because they can lie, cheat, steal etc. Anyways, awesome song. |

Well, from what I've heard and seen, I think this song is about rumors and gossip. Hence the contradicting lyrics and such. Also, I heard that as a kid, Jack thought "The Salvation army" was "Seven nation army" which would also represent rumors and gossip.
I love how this song is so simple, like how most of it is eight notes on bass. |
