this really is a beautiful song and i actually believe there are two ways to take this song. I chose to accept the song as the beautiful ballet that most of you do: a struggle between two in the battle of love. however if you really look at the lyrics, there is a possibility that this is about his lust after an underage girl. This doesnt have to be a negative thing, im 18, and i dont suppose any of you would have a problem with my girlfriend being 17 would you? but if you look at the evidence: "all the boys' voices cracking" - the only way i can see this fitting into context is that he's making reference to younger boys her age...because through maturity our voices crack. however i think it would be meant as a slight exaggeration in this case. "come summertime, we're all the same age here all the tension and the terror thin limbed gorgeous green eyes smiling and i'm going straight to hell" perhaps during the summer time there are no "grades" established. everyone is free to do as they please when school is out. Thats why he refers to this as strictly summer time. acoustictear's theory would fail here because if the maturity factor were to be true...why would they only be the same age come summer time? tension and terror could be his emotions as he doesnt want to get caught and face the law if he does. "thin limbed" would be describing the physique of a younder girl. and obviously him going straight to hell, well premarital sex is also a seven deadly sin is it not? |

i think its deffinetly related to the legal drinking age....which is always related to be young and living in the moment. last night he signed the back of my fake ID in ode to this song! yay! |
