I asked a French exchange student years ago about this song. She told me that the French verse was in the feminine. Maybe it is meant as a response from a woman? I also heard Billy say in an interview that it was one of his least favorite songs. |

I think since Billy is a musician he doesn't relate to theatre. I think he went to see a play and while he was watching it he was creating music for it. |
