ok, since mst of the facts are strewn about, ill do everyone a favor and group them all together. Lyn Strait (lead singer of the band Snot) was killed in a car crash w/ his dog Dobbs resulting in the banmds break-up. Some time later, the members of the band and several of Lynn's old friends (which include Lajon Witherspoon and Brandon Boys just to name a few) got together and decide to compose an album entirely devoted to the memory of their fallen comrade. They called the album 'Strait Up' and it is merely a tirbute album to Lynn. No the remnants of Snot are not calling themselves "strait up" (FYI: in case you didnt already know, SNot's old guitarist now plays for the Limp Bizkit... who has sucked ever since Choclate Starfish... tss.. "rollin'" my hairy white butt... BIZKIT SUX!!!...oh...uh... anyway....) and NO Lynn did not die from an OD. To the song itslef... it is probably the most beatiful and poigniant tribute song to have ever been released. A touching tribute to a great man who was taken too soon. It's lack of airplay was kind of a mixed blesisng though. It was good since it wasn't replayed ad nasuem on mainstream radio and hence raped of its integrity and intentions (God knows how many Linkin Park songs this has happened to.) but it was a little tragic that so many people have yet to hear this brilliant composition. maybe its best left as a "dimond in the rough of obscurity" so to say. untouched by commercial tarnish, this song is an unheard classic. Its a shame that someone had to die in order for this to be accomplished. Still, an incredible song. ifu haven't heard it, do yourself a favor and get your hands on it. -Crash |
