This is one of the most beautiful, bittersweet love songs I've ever heard. The piano and Chris Martin's voice combine beautifully to tell a story of heartbreak, confusion, etc. The lyrics are simple, much like the song structure, but they are poignant and simply full of meaning. This song captures nearly all of the aspects of a relationship. One of my favorite songs of all time, definitely in the top 20. |

I don't understand the political debate. Second, this song has gotten rather annoying, sad to say. It was novelty, but I don't think it will have any real staying power. -Driftwood |

| Coldplay – Parachutes Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| A beautiful, beautiful simple little fourth of a song. It's a bit of a letdown, because it's so touching and one expects it to go longer. The guitar is intricate and at the same time simple, sad and wistful. Coldplay is just fantastic. | |

One more thing- they have a subtle, interesting since of humor (i.e., when they talk about Al Pacino's cash, they're referring to Scarface). |

For one, these lyrics are all wrong. To find the real ones, go to www.switchfoot.com. Second, I wish people would put a little more thought into these music critiques. So much can be said about this song and it takes away from it when people sum it up in 5 words. Anyway, my belief is that Switchfoot is concerned about several things: that (1), people aren't seizing the day as they should, (2), people are taking their lives for granted and (3), that we're replacing the Void in our lives with various different things (the money, the cash, the girls). All these things are irrelevant once a person sees how precious life truly is. One thing I admire about Switchfoot is how they can get across a hugely powerful message without being overly preachy and religious. -Driftwood. |

| 3 Doors Down – Here Without You Lyrics | 21 years ago |

This song is simple but it's powerful. I think it's interesting how the band is cranking out these hit songs that are so applicable to overseas military personnel. Also, it can just be a regular, consoling love ballad. Multitasking! Driftwood |

| Willie Nelson – Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
So it is. Well, my feeling is that this is one of the most underrated songs in music. Willie Nelson is talking to his son who committed suicide in this song. The extended metaphor about his son being an angel is beautiful. It implies that he killed himself so that he could get back 'up' to heaven. 'Fly on, fly on past the speed of the sound'- this reflects a respect of the powers of the heavenlies and his admiration of his son. Simple but powerful. Also, the guitar is so wistful, intricate, and mournful that it nearly made me cry the first time I heard it. Chills still go up my back every time I listen to it. Also, I recommend the live version. It holds more emotion. Driftwood |

| Hoobastank – The Reason Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
Hoobastank - The Reason This song could be interpreted in a variety of ways. Hoobastank probably wrote it about a girl but it could be thought of as a relationship with Jesus, or a model figure, or maybe a friend. That's one of the reasons I like it- it's applicable to many situations. The music itself is not revolutionary or anything but I find the very beginning interesting. Good song, worth downloading. |
