This song has sky rocketed right to the top of my list. My brother took his life last year. Four days ago, my daughter was born. End of story. You say he wrote it for James Lynn Strait. I say he wrote it for me. Which makes it a GREAT song. It allows different listeners to relate to it through their own life. |

This album, let alone, this song mark a sad, yet inevitable blow to my respect for Metallica. I guess I should have saw it coming with tracks from Load and Reload, but in the back of my mind there was always hope. Before the album came out, the band talked about how excited they were for being in the position they were in... to be able to produce music in such a way that they have always wanted to. I, for one, think that if this is how they always wanted to produce music, I am GRATEFUL that they weren't able to before. If there are fans of this album, then I applaud Metallica for opening new doors. But they have shut an old one. I will always be eager and willing to hear them play my favorites, but this new stuff is just too weird to even describe. The lyrics seem almost out of control on every track, with no moderation. You can even hear Mr. Hetfield's voice squeek on a few tracks. Just no control. The guitar is not bad in some songs, but the drums never change. It's the same rythem over and over again.
