yeah it gives the impression of sad times, "colour melting" shows times changing, maybe with changes in the band, (rick wakeman during the fragile album) and all that, lol. it's deep stuff.

this song is beautiful, the best on absolution in my opinion. the video ruins the whole thing though (grr) seems like the song is about forgiveness and comparing it to larger matters "souls" amd "grace" etc

yeah that's totally right, in the video the band are writing stuff on the walls like "prisoner" and "captor". sounds apocalyptic pretty much like the rest of the album.
