i dont want to turn this into a debate on this too much... so after this comment, you are free to reply, but i wont again. I'm am not claiming the songs lack meaning, i just don't think that as much thought went into the art of writing in these ones... The perfect example is hate... a song... with clear... understandable meaning....and not a bad song... just not...great like their previous songs... in the end... all the really's just felt like... by the end of this album this really was a relief, im sorry to all of you, but for this album, this is the only song that lives up to all that we needed or stop. The meaning is obvious, how, you can just want to run away with someone, to spend time with them, but the people around you arent important. The people currently around might not be too fond of the two of you, for some reasons you dont want them... |

i read it as... someone has done something to upset him (and now I look a fool for thinking you were on my side.), and now they seem to be surprised that hes upset/unsure of what to expect from the person/untrustworthy of what they say/they feel betrayed etc... (the "is it any wonder" bits) Nothing left inside this old cathedral, just the sad lonely spires. How do you make it right? that bit... im unsure how to read... maybe it the form relationship he had with the person.. but there isnt anything there... and... he doesnt know how to sort that.... maybe.... i am pretty lost on that bit |

they need to go back to their original sound... and this album probably did get too whiny... but... comfort in sound needed to be made.. if a band can have a member kill themself then go straight into an album that was just the same... then theres something wrong with the band as for the song... neverending pain and failure imo |

the most intresting bit... is this song is not about 2 people being in love with each other... in the faq on their my space he says "And yes, DELILAH is a real person! She is not my girlfriend, just an amazing girl who inspired me to write a song. " i wouldnt like to comment whether hes in love with her... or whether the lvoe mentioned in the song is purely thats of a friend. it doesnt take even the slightest bit of beauty from the song... and may even add a touch |

ok... this song is amazing... imo easily the best from the album to me.. it talks about looking after friends... wishing them well "I hope the weather is calm As you sail up your heavenly stream" ... and being there for "But if it makes you happy Keep on clapping Just remember I'll be by your side" rememberign that no matter what troubles... everythign will be alright "And if you don't let go it's gonna pass you by" the "Who kicked a hole in the sky So the heavens would cry over me Who stole the soul from the sun In a world come undone at the seams" part could be the friend talking, or it could betalking about how, when a close friend is down, you are effected.. and you need to bring them up... to bring yourself up. |

here here smart chic... i agree... it may be about his fathers death... but they arent the onyl bits that remind me of school ending... on top of what you mentioned.... i had my last day of shcool recently... after 7 years at the school... "7 years has gone so fast" and of course... the very idea of "wake me up, when september ends"... in the UK at least... the academic year starts in september... but university tend to start at the end of september... after my exams all i really have to do is laze aroudn till the end of september... |
