| Real Estate – Green River Lyrics
|
sprinklers coming on
a shower in your lawn
and the runoff feeds the flow of your muddy water
your many thousand friends
paid for your conquering banks (this is the only line I'm not totally sure of)
cause you know that we are all your sons and daughters |

I already dig Talib, but referencing Norman Mailer...he can't do wrong in my eyes. |

| Devendra Banhart – Todo los Dolores Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
All the pain already leaves
and the graffiti says "Peter Pan"
and the zoo of the rainbow
It will rainbow, it will rainbow (this isn't a real Spanish word that I can identify)
In the morning I think of my cousin
And all the Spanish that I unravel
What does it say when the sun smiles?
It will smile, it will smile
With your camel face
Take a baby as beautiful
Every house has locks
Oh, they don't open, oh they don't open |

| Devendra Banhart – Some People Ride the Wave Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
I'm not like a lot of people on songmeanings where they see every song as about drugs, but this song is even acknowledges its double-speak.
Well you got so much more than I figure was in store
Oh I ain't foolin no more
Devendra even realizes how obvious this song is about "riding the wave." |

A combination love story and domestic problems song, I guess. He forgets about his abusive dad when he's with this "shimmering socialite jewel." |

| The Microphones – The Glow Lyrics

Really transcendentalist in themes. Finding a glow after being lost for so long, hearkens to finding one's individualism after intense searching. The Microphones in general just really connect with transcendentalist themes I think. |

| The Microphones – Karl Blau Lyrics

"This song is about the existance of God. Even if it is irrational, he says put faith in god. Give up battling and you will win."
I don't see it as that at all. |

| The Microphones – Drums That No One Plays Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
"i believe the line is "over water, a hurricane child", even if that still doesn't make sense.
Also, the full title is "Drums That No One Played / El Nino""
That makes perfect sense Ben. El Nino is both a hurricane and the word for "child" in Spanish. |

"I bought this CD after hearing this song, and I was pretty dissapointed with the rest of the album. This is easily the best they have to offer."

Is it just me or is the line "Was he robbed of the asphalt that cushioned his face?," it just makes much more sense. |

Oh and it's definitely "radio play"
The point of the pulleys and weights is like the behind the scenes of a theater, all the prop work, the radio play being something like the old plays that you could listen to on the radio. |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – Song Against Sex Lyrics

"I beleive this song is against sex."
Sad thing is, jake here pretty much hit it nearly the closest, Mangum got the idea across in the title. This song is about petty, emotionless sex. |

| Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 Lyrics
| 19 years ago
|
"it ends with the line "But don't hate her when she gets up to leave" and then what do we hear? Jeff Mangum setting his guitar down, getting up, and leaving! does it mean anything? probably not. but i figured i'd give all of you something else to over-analyze... i know i'm thinking about it right now."
That's what I thought too, he often embodies himself and everyone else as Anne Frank, and I thought of that as his final clue. |

I agree in plenty of ways with some of the other comments, I think this song is about that feeling you get when you make a decision with the ideas of someone who's died in the back of your mind, or when you just see the effects that someone has even after they've died. |

| Andrew Bird – Banking on a Myth Lyrics
|
The line is "the game is rigged, go figure."
I see this as him seeing record companies taking in such creativity and then hacking it up to turn out the best selling product.
And then a comparison to how that is just like our capitalist society sometimes works, although you may have a great amount of creativity in your profession, it doesn't matter if it won't sell the best. |
