| Gorillaz – Happy Landfill Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"Demon Days" was almost called "Happy Landfill" after this song, but they couldn't find a good way to get Happy Landfill onto the album, so...it's Demon Days instead. True fact. Awesome song. |

| Gorillaz – Don't Get Lost in Heaven Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I think the basic message of this song is: do what makes you happy, but just because something looks shiny and wonderful and amazing doesn't mean it is (like the lyrics about locks on the gate of 'heaven') and you should let yourself get, like the title says, lost. On the non-basic end, I think it may have something to do with war, definately. But then again, much of the album does. |

| Gorillaz – Hong Kong Lyrics | 19 years ago |

Is there some big Gorillaz joke that I'm missing out on? This is the billionth time I've seen a Gorillaz song where "great" is replaced with "shit". And not just on this site, but dozens of other lyrics sites. What the heck?? Anyway, beautiful, beautiful song. I heard it for the first time on the Live @ Manchester DVD. I knew it would be good from the opening music, but when Albarn started singing chills went down my spine. I was so impressed. |

| I love this song. It's so, so simple, but so beautiful. | |
| Gorillaz – El Mañana Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
Remember, guys, Damon writes these songs BEFORE Jamie ever comes up with the videos. So this song is NOT about 2D, Noodle, or any of Gorillaz. Try to discuss the song itself, NOT THE VIDEO. That being said, I agree that this is a song about love and death. ...Perhaps even love that is unrequited due to a death of one of the lovers? (The singer/narrator, in this case, I would imagine?) It would explain the sirens at the beginning (accident, singer/narrator is dying) and then why the voice fades out at the end (the singer narrator is only moments away from dying and thinks about their love-that-could-have-been as they die.) Whether that's the case or not, its a truly beautiful song. Very touching. |

| Pink – Stupid Girls Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
I like the MESSAGE behind the song. HOWEVER... 1- Not cool with the video making fun of people with anorexia and bulimia. Not cool at all. Crap like that only feeds the horrible stereotype that all people with eating disorders are stupid, blonde, white, 95lbs, and are doing it because they like it. It is acctually very rarely so. 2 - I wish this song was a little more "show" and a little less 'tell'. It's SO easy to write lyrics that TELL the listener "I hate stupid girls." it's so much more poetic, interesting, and funny to write sublty satirizing lyrics. |

| The Weakerthans – The Prescience of Dawn Lyrics | 20 years ago |

Sometimes I just put this song on repeat and let myself fall asleep listening to it and losing myself in the visuals and feelings the lyrics give me. That's one amazing song. This is one amazing band. They make amazing songs over and over...they're unstoppable. In a quiet way. |

| The Weakerthans – Slips And Tangles Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Are there two versions of this song? I've just listened to it at full volume several times, and at no time do I hear it being with "We're Rolling". Mine seems to just start with "Neon lights". Odd. | |
| Iron & Wine – Such Great Heights (Postal Service cover) Lyrics | 20 years ago |

This'll sound really LAME, but I got a bit tearful by the eighth line. The Postal Service made an amazing song, but Iron and Wine made an amazing cover. This is great. And no, I've never seen Garden State. |

| The Weakerthans – Past-Due Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
"Passed away to wonder what theyre holding In those hands were never shown the places Formal photographs refuse to mention His tiny feet That birthmark on her knee The tyranny of framing our attention With all the eyes their eyes no longer see" BEAUTIFUL. And it's true... LITERALLY: Formal studio photograph might make a person look pretty and everything, but it doesn't show them as they truly are like a friends out-of-focus banged-up snapshot might. Formal photographs just catch a practiced smile. Snapshots show a moment of true emotion in your life. and FIGURATIVELY: Alot of times, if we only look at someone's "formal face", we assume alot of things. Let's say I take a look at some popular girl. She's got makeup, a pretty smile, and smart fashion. Great. So she must be happy, right? Not nessecarily. I don't really KNOW her; I don't see her "snapshot" face. For all I know she could be depressed and suicidal. But because all I can see is her "formal" face, the one she puts on for the public in the morning, I don't know what she might be like behind closed doors. Figuratively or literally, it applies to anyone. |

| Vanessa Carlton – Twilight Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I think it's about surviving illness (cancer?), with the help of a loved one. "I was stained with a roll, in a day not my own." makes me think of someone told they have an illness that could be deadly, even though they are young. ie, a 'day not their own'. I think the song is talking about how the person overcame the illness with the help of a loved one/ loved ones. So, now, they're alive and well to be able to see the world as a beautiful place, because they value their life more. :D |

| The Weakerthans – One Great City! Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Obviously this song is about Winnipeg and the people in it, but I also think it's about being in a place, like mental state, and not being able to leave. You hate being there, and it's always the same things over and over while you're there, but you're stuck. | |
| The Weakerthans – My Favorite Chords Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I love how this song sort of portrays a very simple love or friendship, but yet, like the lyrics say, "It's such an enormous thing" | |
| Jimmy Eat World – Just Watch The Fireworks Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I think when they say "Here" they mean "Here in love" and that it's about a person who's afraid to be in love with someone because they aren't sure what will happen, even though the singer makes being in love (here) sound so wonderful. | |
| Poe – Trigger Happy Jack (Drive by a Go-Go) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| Awesome song. I always thought this song was about dating a really unstable guy, and enjoying it/hating it at the same time. | |
| Poe – Beautiful Girl Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
This is a really...beautiful song! lol "Beautiful mother, frozen in ice" I'm pretty sure this song is all about the artist's mother, and how she feels about her mother's life. Maybe that she'd like to know more about it, but her mom wont open up about those things. |
|
| Collin Raye – The Gift Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
"But the colors fade away And the years will make us gray But baby in my eyes you'll still be beautiful" I think it's really beautiful that this song talks about the kind of love that lasts forever. No just crap about "bangin' mommas wit ma homies in fron' a' da' ho-tel" lol |
|
| Poe – Angry Johnny Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| I really like this song...this was the first Poe song I listened to, and I went out and bought the CDs lol. I always thought it was a definately a song about a victim of rape or abuse. Also...in another song of Poe's didn't she use the lines, "Johnny dear, don't be afraid, I will keep your secret safe." ? | |
