I think it's less an attack on the Bush administration or the media itself as the new wave of media censorship brought to us by groups like the FCC. Maybe they're saying you shouldn't ban possibly offensive material from the airwaves because in life "everything's not meant to be okay." Also, as media figures, the musicians and actors and artists are meant to blaze the trails for society, not "the ones who're meant to follow." Maybe they're "faggots" for saying so, but the media should be allowed to be relevant, edgy, and challenging rather than catering to the lowest common denominator in some attempt not to offend anyone. |

I'm sure the members of The Who know as well as you do that a deaf, dumb, and blind kid could never play pinball that well. But that's the whole point. A kid that does something impossible. Yeah, it's ridiculous, but it's a great song and I think that its absurdity is a big reason why. Yeah, it would never happen, but it's still a kickass and weird idea. |
