Red Hot Chili Peppers – Right on Time Lyrics 21 years ago
They left out a few lines... the last verse goes like this:

"A plain and simple pain
I want to, but I can't complain
Death row, let us go
It's time to blow up for the show
All the world reverberated
Coming through we motorcaded
Vibrate when we operate and
Turning up in solid stated"

gotta love the bassline...

iamyouareme... have you even heard of any of the people anthony's singing about in here? Larry Holmes, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Little Richard... these people should ring a bell... That's the point. I suggest you search for them under "artists."

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Nobody Weird Like Me Lyrics 21 years ago
Yea, and then in Stone Cold Bush, there's another "lyric discrepancy" when, in the song, Anthony sings a verse "Haight Street, got nothin' to show/ Except the skirt on your ass/ When you're livin' on the streets/ You gotta let it roll/ Get on with what you got/ Awww everybody know's that it's alright/ You've got no secrets to tell/ But when you smoke that rock, suck that cock/ You do it oh so well"

But in the booklet, it says the last couple lines are "But when you walk that walk, talk that talk/ You do it oh so well"

Interesting indeed...

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge Lyrics 21 years ago
Hehehehe... in art class, the teacher assigned us to do a sketchbook drawing illustrating the opening line of our favorite song... So, I sat there thinking for awhile, because I hate doing obvious interpretations of assignments... and I was thinking of "Under the Bridge" . . .

Anyhow, I came up with the goofiest idea... The picture is of the corner of a couch in the foreground that angles up and back to the top right corner. In the middle of the couch are three pairs of socks, folded up together. On the corner of the couch, near the bottom of the page, is this one sock by itself hanging over the edge. Now I giggle whenever I hear the song... Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner...hehehe

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Thirty Dirty Birds Lyrics 21 years ago
Well, you see, the earthworms symbolize the underclass, the downtrodden, the minorities, be they minorities of religion, race, creed, sexual orientation, or whatever. Its not bad enough that these worms live their life out on a curb, on the harsh, sharp, hot, rough, unforgiving concrete, but NO! They are wontonly eaten and burped up by a whole flock of birds who not only sit around eating them when they are already defenseless enough, but have the nerve to SING as they do it! Then, Herbie walks by, and sees what happening. Herbie gets disturbed. Hopefully, Herbie takes action.

Okay, holy shit, I was kidding when I wrote that, but now it makes too much sense. I scare myself...

Demo is way better... The opening and everything and just the sheer rawness of it really complements the lyrics so much nicer than the album version.

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Yertle the Turtle Lyrics 21 years ago
Heh... My English teacher had us doing a project on Midieval ballads, and at the end, she let us bring in a modern day ballad to play. Well, the qualifications she gave us for ballad were rhyme, chorus, and relation of a story. . . So I brought in Yertle the Turtle... I mean, Hell, it fits...

Most people don't listen to anything the Peppers wrote before Blood Sugar, and aren't even aware that albums like Freaky Styley exist, or, if they are, are only aware of singles... so, needless to say, I was the only kid in class that had heard this song before, or was even aware that it existed.

Once my teacher picked up on the lyrics, she screamed and hugged me and made me burn her a copy.

:-D
I've created another fan.... and this one's a 50 year old AP British Lit teacher

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Save the Population Lyrics 21 years ago
Look at the verses... Anthony's singing about drinking, prostitution, people awaiting trial...

The whole night thing is a metaphor. Yea, the sex thing fits nicely, and damn if that isn't a nice way of putting it, but I think he's saying something more along the lines of "its always darkest just before dawn." Society and whatnot is pretty fucked up, but we shouldn't give up on it, because if we just hang around a little bit longer, we can fix things.
