i guess it could mock americas involvment with war, but i think its more aobut the immigration of so many irish into america, looking for jobs that were few and far between
"on and on with nothing to show But a graying face in this dying place Thats a lock in my solitude I think of a place on a faraway coast Where friends are dear and there's reason to toast " |

the genocide was horrible yes, but its not getting better. Rwanada is still a country without little electricity, and the force that had caused the massacre and fled rwanda into surrounding countries are being kicked out of the surrounding countries, has plans of coming back. |

hmm i think u guys were pretty close, with the whole idea that this guy is completly obsessed with a girl, and his friends dont like her. howeve,r i dont think he ever had a relationship with her. i think the "yet im nothing more, than a line in your book" is like im just nothing but a speck in your life. so basically hes obsessed with her yet she doesnt really notice him |

I think that....
this song, like most sublime songs, is about his heroine addiction. It seems that the water is his life, which is now polluted. and as he "duck dives" (surfing term for ducking under waves), its like hes dodging all the bad things that happen, yet when its "10 ft over head" he grabs the reef (heroine). "Lord knows I'm weak...." seems to show he knows his time is coming, and he doesnt have time to question faith, hes just pleading for help. |

i donno if this posted twice, if so sorry. but what i was saying is that the term tune in tune out , drop in drop out is refered to the trip you get hwile on acid. i think the song is refereing the illusions u get while on acid, to the way TV controls americans through things like football. speaking of which, superbowl party anyone? |

the term tune in tune out (like my username and AIM name) is used for the trip u get while on acid. i think its comparing the illusions you get on acid to the ones tv is using to control americans, through thigns people get overly excited about- such as american football. superbowl party, my house, be there. |
