I misunderstood the line to be "I made my bed, I lied in it" which kinda got me onto the track that he's talking about an affair. Which i guess the actual lyrics don't contradict either.
Could be about so much though. Like most (if not all) of Thom's songs. |

I love how over Beck lyrics there always seems to be an argument in the end. And also: how you can see what everybody's mind is occupied with at the moment. Cause that is what we interpret into the lyrics. Beck said himself that he loved the Tora (yes, the Tora. He was raised jewish) because there was a million different intepretations for every sentence. And that is what he tries to recreate, something that everybody can fit to their momentary situation to make sense.
So my guess: I think it's about being lost. The longing for things that you can't have but you don't know what it is. Whether it's a person (after a break-up) or your home (feeling like one has no parents anymore because they seem so distanced after leaving home) or a religion, i think it's about needing to be guided for a while. |

i think it's about the guilt that society puts onto us. we don't notice it but from all sides we here what we should and shouldn't do. i hink the song is also about being lost and finding the direction of your life and all the "help" from the outside world is that smoking is bad andliving healthy. but still it doesn't help. we just feel like a pawn in a chess game. |

i used to have these migraine influenced dreams which were always in a really really bright room (->hell is chrome?) and it sounded exactly like that, just also with dull voices in it. creepy as hell when you're a kid. I do believe it is supposed to be migraines. Especially considering that every normal human being wants to switsch it off. luckily you don't need painkillers for this one... |

I kinda feel like the song is about a similar situation as I am in. Where the end of a relationship is kinda visible, or was visible. Where there is no other way out but to end it even though you might not even want to. Such a great song!! |

I think it's about world-weariness... about the whole world doesn't make sense to him and how he's afraid of war's... people and future and how he just get's manic (i laugh until my head comes off) and depressive (i'll swallow until i burst)

I just realized that it's "this is my final FIT" and not "this is my final fear"... final fit? i think final fear would be much better! i had a dream last night that i wanted to kill myself by taking sleeping pills and i felt this incredible "Last fear"... i love this song. so genious! |
