I think the end refers to the girl hitting the guy, if any hitting occurred at all. It seems illogical that it would jump from being through the eyes of the guy and then to the girl at the end. Or "My eyes healed nicely" could simply be referring to the times he cried so hard over her his eyes were raw. That's my take on it, anyway. Brilliant song.

Hmmm. When I first heard this song, the opinion I got of the lyrics was exactly the same as the comment above. Maybe that's because I self-harm and I'm prone to jumping to such conclusions, I don't know. It does appear to be about that kind of thing, though. I like this song a lot, especially the lines "These cuts are leaving creases, trace the scars to fit the pieces; to tell your story, you don't need to say a word". Words aren't necessary when you have your past carved out on your arms. And if you can't let go of someone or something, you might as well make it bleed *shrugs* it all seems to fit very well to me. Maybe Chris was trying to 'connect' with his emo audience with a little stereotyping.

The Postal Service are amazing... I have friends with totally different tastes in music to myself but everyone who I have copied Give Up for have become fans. Says it all, really. It'll just be a shame when they go 'chart' in the UK because that spoils bands, however elitist that makes me sound.
