I would agree and say it is about sex. Premature ejaculation... in a way yes. Quick sex. It would seem in the beginning he is using his "right brain". Later on he seems to be getting the hang out of it and now using the "left brain" and is confident that he is pleasing. |

I just had a thought today about this song. The "smeared black ink" could be tears maybe from her makeup. "Sweaty palms" as she is nervous in telling him how things are going to change. The writing sounds like it could be as well. He is reading a letter. And i was also thinking this song could be taken as either a song about visting an old friend or dealing with alcoholism. It is left open to interpretation as anything else. Just my two cents. I listen to this song everyday and everyday i get something new out of it. So amazing. Gibbard = Genius. |
