Bob Dylan – Visions of Johanna Lyrics 15 years ago
I 'm follow the "imaginary ideal love vs real touchable love"-interpretation.

I think "The ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face" has something to do with light. Light is probably the most common product of electricity, but you can't really see it. Only it's effect. So it's a ghost. He's describing the way the light falls on the shapes of her face.
The fact that it's howling, may - on the other hand - suggest that it 's candlelight, which has a more moving, howling light effect.

The way he sings it clearly indicates it's a pretty impressive view.

Any comments on this one?

May I correct myself .. obviously, I didn't mean to write "love" in the first sentence.. instead: it's a song about life .. but I think the clever reader already figured that out.

yeah. I also think it's a song about love and how it's a maze for rats to try, but also a race for rats to die. Life is just a race to your death indeed, so the best thing to do is have some fun (run away from all your boredom). The whoredom is about selling yourself (by working) and the alienation that can come with going to work. If you think about life that way, it's easier to relativate your problems and wave them goodbye. End of the story?

I totally agree with the epitome of poetry, but just like you, I 'm left wandering and grasping in the dark. Can't help you, man.. but I do have a comment: I think it's "broken semaphores" instead of "broken centre floor" .. I could be wrong though
