Alright, this may be long, but this song means a lot to me, so it's important for me to try to convey what I think it means. But this is just me, I'm not gonna claim that I actually know why it was written or anything... Basically, it makes me think of a relationship, with one person getting really hurt from it. take the first verse; I take this as someone slowly gaining trust, taking out the 'timid wild one' and telling them everything will be alright, while slowly whispering insanities and hurting them as well. The real kicker is "while I formulate Denials of your effect on me " the typical abusive relationship where someone excuses them, denies what is happening, etc. second verse, he/she realizes the abuse, claiming he shouldn't care, someone left him now, but it wasn't the first time he's been lied to either... third verse basically, a 'fuck you, i'm leaving' type thing. "I'm better off without you tearing my will down" the last line says it all. Does this make any sense? |

"lift the veil, it's not medicine and my heart fails, time and time again" I could be wrong, but I really took this to mean a drug addiction (as well as other self injurious behaviors) and telling him to 'lift the veil' and that this isn't medicine to make someone get better, it's a drug that kills. This seems to match the rest of the song too, talking about using drugs as a distraction to free someone from pain and to 'be at sin' |
