If you watch the music video it makes the song make more sense. Basically in the music video it shows a girl lying in bed and lots of other people come in. So it definitely talks about a girl who kind of...gets around and a guy who falls in love with her, but knows he's not permanent. When he says he wears a badge it emphasizes that point. |

It's a very disturbing song the first time you hear it after reading all of the lyrics. But I am absolutely positive that the bluebird symbolizes either other people close to John or possibly an especially haunting memory/reputation. He no doubt finds the "bird" annoying and destroys it to free himself from whatever the bird symbolizes. |
