In my not at all humble opinion, this is quite possibly the most punk rock thing ever recorded. What an awesome song/stunt. Sums up exactly why I love the Dead Kennedys. |

It doesn't relate specifically to Dukes Of Hazzard, it's just an allusion to the show and other shows like it, where the heroes aren't intelligent or worthy of emulation, and only promote gung-ho masculine stereotypes that gullible viewers decide to imitate, leading to the behavior in this song. |

There's a group of hardcore "punx" who hassle me every time they see me at a show because I don't have a mohawk and leather jacket with patches and therefore don't deserve to listen to punk music. Punks like them are no better than the judgmental assholes they supposedly oppose. |

| Dead Kennedys – Chicken Farm Lyrics

This one's about the ramifications of war that take place after the war is over, whether it be economical devastation or leftover artillery. After a weak country loses a war, the living conditions are almost unbearable, and the only option for many citizens is to immigrate to a country like America. Unfortunately, oftentimes when they get here they face racism and poverty. It's still better than where they came from, but it's a no-win situation. |

I don't know what you guys are talking about, Frankenchrist rocked and this is one of the best songs on it. It's not as loud and fast as DK's previous stuff but it's still an amazing song lyrically.
It's about the way Americans distract themselves with easy quick-fix answers and ignore real problems and dangers lurking just beneath the surface of contemporary society. |

| AFI – Totalimmortal Lyrics

when I hear this song it makes me think about some sort of a vengeful god about to destroy the universe for its "sins." it's almost like it's saying that this god is tired of being lied to and ignored and prayed to by a world he's sorry he created. that's just my opinion though. |

This song is so true.... peace cannot be achieved through violent means. The current war in Iraq is doing nothing to protect us, and is actually making the world a worse place because it is creating new terrorists every day. |

This song is sarcastic.... it's about rejecting individuality and agreeing to go along with society, like everyone seems to eventually do anyway. Musically, this sounds a bit like the Ramones. |

Just in case you're not big on history, here's what they're talking about:
Ben Franklin - founding father, smart guy
Twain - one of the best authors of all time, wrote Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer
Poe - poet, author, wrote "The Telltale Heart," "The Raven" and many other classics
Walt Whitman - poet, wrote "Walden"
Klu Klux Klan - racist terrorist group in the south that shoots and lynches minorities and civil rights sympathisers
Haymarket Riot - riot that broke out during the struggle for workers rights
Great Depression - economic crisis of the 30s, caused mass unemployment and poverty
Joe McCarthy - senator in the 1950s, fueled communist scare by accusing many people in the government and entertainment industry of being communists or communists sympathisers
Vietnam - long, pointless, terrible and losing war that brought huge losses on both sides and left many Americans with permanent emotional and physical damage |

| Guttermouth – Lemon Water Lyrics

|
This is probably the smartest song Guttermouth has ever done. (not saying much, but still...) It's so true... when you're anti-social and you don't want to talk to people, you make excuses in your head as to why you won't talk to them and why you don't like them. Drinking water with lemon in it is as good of a reason as any. |

| The Vandals – Marry Me Lyrics

I was reading this book the other day about the history of mosh pits, and the Vandals get mentioned along with Kung Fu records. The author says that this is the Vandals best song, and that it "deserves to be listened to as long as punk rock is heard." It's a good song, but I really don't think it's their best one, do you? Personally, just looking at The Quickening, I think it's overshadowed by "choosing your masters" and "but then she spoke." Still a funny song though. |

| The Vandals – Aging Orange Lyrics

this song is in reference to "Come out & play" by the Offspring. as you will recall, that song had a middle eastern feel to it. Bloodstains by Agent Orange did too, only about 12 years earlier. When offspring hit big with "come out and play" they were accused of ripping off the middle eastern feel from Agent Orange, since offspring claimed to be fans of that band. With this song, the Vandals are reminding Agent Orange that if you're going to copyright middle eastern sounding music, you're going to have to sue a lot of people since the music has been around thousands of years. |

| Blink-182 – Cream of a Chode Lyrics

blink used to be punk, or at least something close to it. back in the days of Chesire Cat and Dude Ranch they were about as punk as, say, Lagwagon or Ten Foot Pole. They're not punk now, but observant people will notice that they don't claim to be. they're now a pop band with some punkish leanings. they're still a very good band, better than 95% of the other shit on the radio and MTV. and just because people like them doesn't mean they're considering blink or themselves to be punk, so please, just shut the fuck up about it. if you like blink, awesome. (I do too.) If you don't, that's cool too. Let's be open minded about other people's opinions without all the personal attacks, ok? If you kids don't behave, I'll turn this car right around and we'll go home! |

I played this song for 2 of my friends and found out that all of us pee in the shower. We figured all guys must do it so we started asking people at school. Then after school we asked some straight edgers if they peed in the shower, and they got so pissed at us, threatening to kick our asses, calling us faggots... it was so funny, since we were in a car and they weren't. |

This is my favorite song on "Gusto." I may be in the minority, but I really enjoy this album. Sure, it's really poppy, but this isn't typical Good Charlotte style pop-punk. It's so inventive and diverse, I don't think I've heard anything like it before. I can't think of any other punk band that could do this or Lemon Water, can you? |

This song is talking about how after Brody left Tim, playing music with Rancid saved his life. I think any music fan can relate to this... who doesn't turn to their favorite music when they're depressed? It's also another Rancid song to reference the Clash, which is cool. I also like the fact that if you know your Rancid history you know this would make it the second time that Rancid has saved Tim's life. I'd say he owes them... |

In the 50s, with McCarthyism and the general paranoia of the cold war, a lot of famous actors who were suspected of communist leanings were blacklisted for it, in other words, their careers were basically ended unless they came out with a public apology. This is one of my favorite songs on the FOAPP reissue. The ancient Chinese secret line is a reference to these old TV commercials for detergent with a Chinese couple that would use it to make clothes really bright, and when the announcer would ask how they did it, they'd say "that's an ancient Chinese secret!" |
