See, I thought it was about Jesus.

Ben Folds – In Between Days Lyrics 19 years ago
I love the fact that Ben has the balls to start a show with a cover...at least that's how it sounds on Songs for Goldfish.

Iron & Wine – He Lays in the Reins Lyrics 19 years ago
The Spanish section is essentially

I never thought that I would ever
Have the opportunity to find the road anew
And form a better world

Seems rather odd considering the subject matter of the rest of the song, but oh well.

That having been said, this was jaw-dropping live.

He did play Bastard though...

Ben Folds – Fired Lyrics 20 years ago
Surpasses Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name" for best use of the word "motherfucker" in a song.

Ben Folds – Kalamazoo Lyrics 20 years ago
Kalamazoo = the city where I live, and a stop on Ben's 2005 fall tour.

I'm excited.

One of their best songs, IMO.

Pavement – Gold Soundz Lyrics 21 years ago
Yeah...it's definitely "I won't need you when I'm gone"...

Elliott Smith – No Name #1 Lyrics 21 years ago
One of my favorite songs right now, I just wish it was longer...

The Shins – One By One All Day Lyrics 21 years ago
I can't believe no one has commented on this song. I love it. Pure folk goodness with good harmony.

Pink Floyd – Wish You Were Here Lyrics 21 years ago
The album is definitely about the record industry. I mean, listen to Have a Cigar for christs sake!

I'm from Kalamazoo.

Motion City Soundtrack – A-OK Lyrics 21 years ago
This song has that bitter, end-of-summer feel to it and every time I hear it it just hits me in the gut. Especially that part where he sings "I am the reason".

At least, that's how it is for me.

Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't like the new stuff. Moon and Antarctica was it for me...the way they polished and changed the album to appeal to all the wannabe hippie indie kids just doesn't suit me...

The Darkness – Get Your Hands Off My Woman Lyrics 21 years ago
Possibly the best chorus ever written.

Pavement – Major Leagues Lyrics 21 years ago
The guitar solo is just perfect. There's not too much and not too little, and the notes just fit so well. Just beautiful.

At the Drive-In – Quarantined Lyrics 21 years ago
After the song gets quiet and there's the really high guitar part all alone, there's that part before Cedric sings where it gets really heavy and dark sounding. Yeah, I love that part.

Brand New – Jude Law and a Semester Abroad Lyrics 21 years ago
Most bitter song I've ever heard. That's all.

Linkin Park – Faint Lyrics 21 years ago
People should be able to voice their opinions here, no matter what it may be. I personally think LP has a tendency to sound like a bunch of very angsty 14-year-olds, and all their damn lyrics sound the same.

Just my opinion, of course. Please don't attack me with your wristbands.

At the Drive-In – Sleepwalk Capsules Lyrics 21 years ago
The chorus, oh my god. Jim's background yelling just makes it so awesome. That and the line: all utensils are fixed on you, the way Cedric sings it is amazing.

Pinback – Loro Lyrics 21 years ago
Beautiful song. That's all there really is to it.

Pinback – Offline P.K. Lyrics 21 years ago
The way they end this song, where the chords and the whole damn mood of the song change, and he starts singing "Mail off the rebate" is amazing. It's probably the most amazingly awesome thing I've ever heard.

A Perfect Circle – 3 Libras Lyrics 21 years ago
I don't know if anyone's thought of this besides me, but here's my twisted idea on it:

The song is written from the perspective of a stalker or a voyeur of sorts, spying on someone who is the object of his imagination. Think about it, the lines

When I look right through
To see you naked but oblivious
And you don't see
Me

He set up cameras behind the mirrors, he's looking through the ceiling, he sees everything but she can't see him.

You don't see me...

Of course, I really don't think that's what the damn song is about. But you never know.
