i reckon this song is about being used in some sort of way. "Masochists to which I cater", "Wish I was too dead to care, If indeed I cared at all" "One good turn deserves my dying" all these remind me of kinda being used in a way and caring heaps about it + hating it, but also intune with a kinda self loathing related to this abuse. The words 'caters' kinda makes me think that he is worth nothing to the people/person who is abusing him, he is just served to them purely to please them. As well as the 'one good turn deserves my dying,' as if he is worthless, they can just use him when ever they want and kill him as he means nothing to them. He is a replaceable material object + he hates himself for it, he doesnt care anymore what happens. Being used many a fuking times + felt just like this. |

| Something Corporate – Only Ashes Lyrics | 20 years ago |

well...*ahem*... i think the line "I can tell as you turn, I smell the sulfur so clear" is one of the most powerful lines, possibly not lyrically but the way that it is deleivered with the music and guitars and fandangles. It makes me wanna fuck shit up which is probli what is not intended. Also the line 'and fire's a beautiful sound....' is amazing beautiful. It kinda calms me down after the crazy line before it. I think the song is about repressed anger/frustration over something. The music kinda gives me that vibe, its kinda jumpy and anxious, like they are trying to let something out. The lyrics make me think that the person the song is about, is fucking everything up, like they just dont care what happens i.e "So I'll watch the matches, turn to ashes," and " the wings that you burn turn to ashes my dear." It is as if this person doesnt care about anything or anyone else and it is shown by their lack of care for what ever it is they are burning, example: the matches that they are wasting and the wings. But who ever wrote the song also is starting to not care, only about the person this time, 'And torch the part of me that's you.' They realise that what ever they had is now over, and its best to burn and destroy theri old memories and bits of relationship they had left. whew. hope what i wrote all makes sense |

| Good Riddance – A Credit To His Gender Lyrics | 21 years ago |

wow this song uses big words.. confuses me a bit...but my shallow unitelligent mind kinda thinks it has something to do with a guy taking advantage or haveing relations with heaps of girls to prove how 'manly' he is i.e him being a credit to his gender. the section that agent m sings, kinda cements this idea in my head, 'another notch in the belt'. well have a think about that one!! soooo deep! toodles |

| Screeching Weasel – I Wanna Be A Homosexual Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| ok i have too much time on my hands to post 3 comments in a row but also the last line 'you're so full of shit why don't you admit you don't have the balls to be a queer' could be bens opinion. He could be telling the guy whos pretnding to be queer that he really doesnt have the guts to pull it off, so quit pretending. | |

*by being straight edge but really doesnt believe in it by drinking a beer. (sorry) |

| Screeching Weasel – I Wanna Be A Homosexual Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| ok looks like ive been proved extremely wrong cause i thought the song was about pretending to be a homosexual just for the sheer reason of being different and to 'shock the middle class.' The reference to being straight edge yet drinking a beer and also gave me this impression ‘cause the guy is once again pretending to be different but being straight edge but really doesnt believe in it by drinking a beer. | |
