" In one car was my girlfriend and my best female friend, and in my car was one of my best friends–who was dating my best female friend–and me. This happened during high school; we’d meet up and go out for school lunches. One day they got into an accident: The girl that I was dating was driving and my best female friend was killed. There’s a lot [in the song] about visiting the hospital afterward and the disorientation of not knowing how to process things. At the time, I was discovering a lot of post-modern literature, and the disconnection between the articulation of despair and the word for it. The great distance between people consoling you and talking to you about the everyday in-and-out of loss, but still not being able to feel anything. The disconnection of emotions from words was a very post-modern thing. Amazing song. This album is so overlooked I feel! Hardly any comments on the songs. Great closing song. As stated above, Geoff wrote this to Touche Amore (and in general, bands getting into the music business) what to expect. Excellent tune. |

Andrew wrote this song for a movie about a high school reunion. He also however related it to his own experience and having a person in your life that you never resolved a problem with. "It's funny how the words we never say Can turn into the only thoughts we know" Amazing line. |

As Rowkem mentioned the part about drugs and alochol and peer pressure. There is a line earlier in the song "And here I am just standing in the middle, not just a little but a hill full" Hill full of coke? and then it continues on "Wondering how I got a head cold, wishing that I didn't know". Personal experience perhaps? Great song. For the record, I'm not calling Lights a coke head! Just looking into the lyrics. Great tune. |

I read in an interview that directly said that line was about the You Me at Six vocalist (I think) missing his girlfriend. Don't quote me that it was the YMAS vocalist, but it is about someone missing their girlfriend because of tour not some "slutty chick", but then again it's whatever you take it as. Great song, the end is awesome. |

i was on wikipedia reading about the Dakota (where john lennon was murdered)..and it said " Brand New mentions the Dakota in their song "Play Crack the Sky" from the album Deja Entendu. " wikipedia isn't always right though.. cause everyone on here says the dakota was a boat as well.
