in contrast to the people that think this song is about an abortion, every time i listen to it, i get the sense that is about the futility of old age. "i'm just tired of counting bodies." this line refers to to the daftness that comes with old age, when you become dependent. "lets just paint you a pretty face." this line refers to the fact that the elderly are ostrisized from society, but given a sense, among the young, of being the respected parts of society, always respect your elders, ect. is really just another saying. "contusion is hungry, they still eat their young." contusion is the only word that defiles my thory, because literally, it means injuries usually not leaving lacerations, but alas, old age leaves its marks, however...i believe that in this line he means that contusion injures you when you're young, maybe smoking ,or doing a drug, that will show no signs of injury at the time, however still 'eating the young.' there are many other quotes to define, but *shrug*, i'm lazy. but that is what i think of the song. At the Drive-In were probably one of the deepest bands in existance, and Cedric, and all of them, are, bottom line, incredibly talented. |
