| Blur – Stereotypes Lyrics

It's about a woman who has a particularly active sex life since her husband died.
By the way, i'm pretty sure she runs a local bnb (e.g. 'bed and breakfast' hotel), not bmw. |

| The Promise Ring – Make Me A Chevy Lyrics

I think that the song is generally about being in love with a girl but not being sure if he really deserves her. "how would I explain your body to the rest of my day" is probably a sexual reference and the almost nonsensical comparison to the interstates might be a metaphor for how he can't give her the things she wants in life. |

"do you kiss my lips with hesitation because you're afraid of what they might say?" - what an incredible lyric. This song is amazing! |

| The Slackers – Wasted Days Lyrics

At first it sounds like he regrets the "wasted days" he spent with a girl who dumps him, but then when he thinks about sleeping with other girls he comes to the conclusion that he still loves her. ("I'll make love with her till the morning light
Thinkin all the while how I could love you"). He doesn't know what he did wrong. ("What have I done wrong?")
I hate being dumped when I haven't done anything wrong... |

"So baby come back to me and we'll sleep. I'll admit the things you want me to, I won't fuck the girls I wanted to..."
It sounds like he wants other girls but decides he'll put up with a girl who controls him. |

| Audio Karate – Hey Maria Lyrics

The singer sounds really pissed off in this album. I like it when he screams "Mariaaaaaa" after the guitar bit.
I'm not sure if its about a prostitude, but probably about a girl named Maria who makes him "crazy". (I think "whore" is a term which is sometimes used to describe a slutty girl, but not necessarily a prostitute.) |

"I would rather slip and die than live this life without you" I agree, an absolutely beautiful lyric.
I think the drums on this track are fantastic. |

I think its about realising that you've could have been a better person and decided to wake up tomorrow and correct your mistakes.
I love the half-time bit when the drums finally come in. |

Perhaps it is about their old band but it doesn't seem to fit with the lyric "daydreams of you and I" which seems to demonstrate a relationship between two individuals. Also, it would seem odd to me to begin an album with a song about a former band...
Either way its an amazing song, but in my opinion its about young love. "Wrote your name on my folder a thousand times" sums up this sentiment. |

"So I say goodnight to you..." - what a perfect end to an amazing album. I particularly like the guitar part after the second verse (but I'm not sure why). |

If you listen really really closely at the very end, it sounds to me like Brad starts crying. Has anyone else noticed this? |

Does anyone know if it is Thom, Jonny or Ed who plays the main guitar part in this song? I'm just curious. |

| Bob Marley and the Wailers – I Shot The Sheriff Lyrics
| 21 years ago
|
I doubt this song is entirely about cannibis as a lot of people think. Not every word should be taken literally. I believe this song is about racism in the police force. Sheriff John Brown comes after Marley using the excuse that he shot the deputy, but really he doesn't want him to settle down (hence the metaphor of the seed/plant/having roots).
Ev'ry time I plant a seed
He said, "Kill it before it grows."
He said, "Kill them before they grow."
Maybe I'm wrong, its just what I think. Bob Marley is a legend. |

| Pink Floyd – The Great Gig in the Sky Lyrics

I think the main theme of this song is death, because of the references to dying in the spoken section and the title "The great gig in the sky", which is possibly a reference to a heaven or afterlife. |
