i love king crimson and this song. i wish songs today about the degredation of society were more poetic and had more talent in them like this song. this is what music is supposed to be. its full of poetry, truth, talent, and relavent meaning. i hate how so many songs nowadays is about breaking up. there are other issues out there besides stupid relationships! king crimson rocks! |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Dosed Lyrics

i think this song is all from the drug's perspective. the drug is singing this "love" song to the writer. because drugs can sing very beautiful love songs to their host. the drug flatters him by calling him a "star". the drug says "you can put me down in this canyon but i wont hide forever." the drug brags "i got closer than anyone else to you bc you loved me and i almost killed you." the drug is sad bc it lost "i killed this other chic on top of my mountain but you got away, all i wanted was your life." the drug is proud bc the writer showed the drug love with no remorse for anything. and the drug fantasizes about when it almost took the writers life: "Climb on to your seahorse and This ride is right on course This is the way I wanted it to be with you This is the way I knew that it would be with you."
the drug is mad bc it is so used to winning (aka taking peoples lives) and this time it lost. this time the drug is saying "i got dosed by you" bc the person is "forever warm" (forever alive, not cold and dead).
i think its a neat way to look at it where the drug is addicted to the person. |

rockdaboat is right. jack kerouac's most famous book is "on the road". so the singer takes his work to heart and feels he needs to do something that will make a difference. read some of kerouac's work (he is amazing) and it will make sense. |

i dont think the last line is literal. he is probably talking about neal cassady and jack kerouac. he mentions kerouac's books in french "en route"=on the road. "des visions of cody"=visions of cody."les Souterrains"=the subterraneans. etc... what can i say, i love jack kerouac and this band is cool for making reference to him. |

i cant believe no one has commented on this song. its beautiful. wow. it really hits home. to me this song is about what it feels like to be trapped in an addiction. its like the character is facing the last moment with his drugs and unfortunately the drugs will kill him. Even though he started using just for fun, his life ends up being taken over by his addiction. cool song. its about something so real and scary but sounds so lighthearted. |

i dont really care what it is actually written for because that kinda takes away from the artistic aspect of it. i think it is great that its so interpretive. i like to think of it as a song about addictions. it has helped me in dealing with my addiction. there are alot of drug references in it, most have been mentioned (cant kill the beast, the mirrors, lighting up, living it up in the hotel, etc.) i really enjoy the part "you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." it helps me remember that i can quit using drugs any time i like, but i will always be an addict. i like to listen to this song to remind me of the bad times of using so i can really enjoy my clean time now. |

| Blink-182 – I Miss You Lyrics

You know this has to be good lyrics to this song when so many people interpret it in so many different ways. Its poetic. I think the "dont waste your time on me youre already the voice inside my head" refers to being haunted by a dead person. It's like he is telling the ghost "dont waste your time haunting me, you already haunt my mind." And of course the ghost could be a metaphor for anything such as alcohol, drugs, bad relationships, anything that haunts you. |

| Muse – Thoughts of a Dying Atheist Lyrics

Like the title suggests, I think it is about doubting religion or lack thereof. Maybe it is the doubts an atheist goes through when he sees the end. At that last moment you wonder if there is anything else out there that you should have believed in. Maybe the "you" in the song is his 'spirit' or 'soul'. It keeps him awake and he asks his soul "are you afraid to die?" The song rocks. |

| Britney Spears – Everytime Lyrics

I am normally not that into the Britney Spears thing, but when i heard this song I was so upset. Especially this one because i heard she wrote it herself. The lyrics are horrible. Lyrics should have a poetic essence and a universal quality. These lyrics are so blatant and bland and tell you exactly what is meant. There is no way to relate to this song except in the pitiful, broken-hearted girlfriend way. Take matchbox twenty's 3AM. That song can be interpreted in so many ways and be applied to so many experiences in life. That is a real song. It just makes me sad that so many people recognize Britney type of song as good. We really need to begin to recognize real talent and music as an art, the way it was meant to be. I wonder how many times she has used the word "Baby" in her songs?;) |

| Muse – Unintended Lyrics

Its cool to relate to this song in a distant way. I think it is taken best when thinking about just some random person that sparked your interest. I once saw someone on the street and for some reason something about him made me dream up an entire life with him. He could have been the one I'll always love. But then he passed on and I went to work and that was the end. But for one moment it was some crazy connection. Its always best in writing to keep your muse (no pun intended) at a distance; stay detached from your inspiration. |
