| Good Shoes – In The City Lyrics

Jack and JILL. come on.
Otherwise, seems to be about clubbing in London. Candybox is an indie club night in soho with cheap drinks ("queuing up for something under priced"). Seems to either be an indictment of the club scene or just a commentary on how it works - buy the hipsters in Cons drinks and they'll probably come home with you.
Not sure what the live by the sword/die by the knife line means. I could come up with some really emo readings of it, but they wouldn't fit with the song, though this is one of the Shoes' more introspective songs. |

this is so catchy you really can't stop yourself from listening to it (which is quite brilliant) but i think it would be just as good if it was just the first minute - it drags at the end and the only part after the first minute that's good is the repeat of the first minute.
in any case, i can't help but enjoy the song and it's perfect for the ipod ad. |

| Bloc Party – Song for Clay (Disappear Here) Lyrics

It all looks good except it sounds like it should be "Like the 80s never happened" instead of "How...". Well scribed. I'm really getting into this one - that driving drum beat is brilliant. |

| Weezer – Acapulco Lyrics

i really like weezer's simpler numbers like this one and death and destruction. rivers has (perhaps i should say had) the gift of simple lyrics that still have impact and the simple repetitive instrumentation is perfectly matched to the lyrics. everyone who has been in love can identify with the sentiment "told me things no one knew, now you're gone."
hands down one of weezer's best b-sides. |

++ sethbrown - such a brilliant line.
That's a great verse, but the second to last line of the song is hands down the best - "All fires have to burn alive to live." |

yeah, considering its vanilla ice especially, there are some very clever lines in this track. i think this line seems to sum up his career and how he feels about it perfectly:
Spreadin' quicker than your mom have a feel but don't cop it / Yea I stole your beat but that's cause you dropped it
word to your mother. |

I think it's about having a song that reminds you of someone you used to care about/still care about and you hear it and still want to like the song but can't help being upset listening to it.
It's the worst when you love a song but can't listen to it because it hurts too much. |

| Muse – Citizen Erased Lyrics

What, honestly, in god's name might that even mean? "Muse's own Bohemian Rhapsody"? Also, I have to say, I can't say I see this song being about a rape. People make reference to the two lines "scraping away at my mind / please stop asking me to describe" a lot but you can't take individual lines out of context of the entire song, which doesn't seem to be about rape at all. |

| Cadillac Blindside – Tonight's Starting Lineup Lyrics

it should read "some people laugh at deramers / but we're not that at all / if the past years were dreaming / then sleep is all i want."
i love this song. i think its about taking a chance, staying in a relationship no one believes in, i think the lines i fixi above point that out perfectly. |

| Pixies – Levitate Me Lyrics

well, i don't think this song anything to do with religion or sex, at least it doesnt to me. i mean, certainly that is one valid interpretation and may well be the "correct" one, but i like alternate readings. i think parts of this song are just about a relationship and wanting to be involved in it but also thinking you shouldnt be - "would you please fawn over me" and then "would you please run over me." while she takes him to a higher place (levitates him), she is also going to destroy him. |

rockhopperpenguin, i hate MTV as well, but that's just kind of dumb. i mean...they didnt write the song _for_ the real world. it's stupid to retrospectively lose respect for a song you formerly liked solely because it was on MTV. anyway, if we had to throw out every great track just because it was on mainstream TV, think about how many great songs/bands would be gone because of the OC. |

that should have said "sure, it's NOT the most original sound ever, but its so fucking great to listen to." my point is that ringside isn't doing anything that no one has done before, but it's fun and great to listen to. |

| Weezer – Hold Me (Make Believe Version) Lyrics
| 20 years ago
|
this is really the only thing worthwhile from make believe. i think between their last 3 CDs, weezer has one longish EP's worth of fucking great music and a ton of, very sadly, crap. this song doesnt make up for the rest of make believe, but it does make me belive that somewhere inside of him, rivers can still make music i love.
this song was in-fucking-credible live. i highly recommend trying to catch weezer while they tour this summer. |

this song is amazing. definitely one of the few post-pinkerton but pinkerton quality songs. it's really great instrumental and while i dont like the sound quite as much with the words, the lyrics are so great that they make up for it.
this song shows that somewhere, deep down, rivers still has it, though he sadly could have fooled me after maladroit and make believe. |

| Kelly Clarkson – Since U Been Gone Lyrics

i have to say, people who say that kelly clarkson has no talent are stupid. i'm not really a pop fan, but come fuck on...have you heard her sing? her voice is incredible. this is basically as good as pop singles get - its catchy and fun to listen to. the ted leo cover of it however, is possibly the hottest shit to hit the internet ever. |

| Fountains of Wayne – Mexican Wine Lyrics

Brilliant? Could be about so many things? Can someone who said that this song could be about "so many things" tell me just one thing that it could be about? For example, what might
The water was used to make baby lotion
The wheels of promotion were set into motion
mean? I look at it and I see...nothing. They just rhymed random words into plausible sentences and then wrote this song.
I happen to dislike this song but that's not the point. The point is this song couldn't "be about so many things." It's pop, plain and simple. |

| Fountains of Wayne – Stacy's Mom Lyrics

im sorry, but this song is terrible, though definitely not as bad as most of fountains of wayne's new crap. theyre older stuff is much better, welcome interstate managers is mindless bad pop. stacey's mom is an excellent pop song no doubt, by which i mean it has a really catchy hook, etc, but that doesnt make it good.
before the morons come out and tell me that if i dont have any anything nice to say i shouldnt say anything at all, i am just as free to express my opinion here as anyone else, and while i suppose its their right to tell me that, it would be stupid. |

| Marcy Playground – Sex And Candy Lyrics
| 21 years ago

I disagree both with drew and the morons who stood up for him. Some opinions _are_ wrong; don't go around pretending to be some free speech crusader of justice, you all know full well that his interpretation is simply incorrect. Drew, it's an interesting idea, but it's simpy wrong. First of all, its not marcy'S playground, no possessive, its Marcy Playground. If you're confused about that, just look at the title bar of the window, see where it says "Marcy Playground"? Yup, there you go. You're "interpretation" of the line "Mame this surely is a dream," uh...makes no sense. At all. That goes for the rest of your interpretation, too.
The people who said not to use "gay" perjoratively, yup, obviously you're right, but welcome to the internet, where people feel free to spread their bigotry with annonymity.
Also, I think it's great that this song is still active in 2005, I bought this CD when I was in 8th grade (1998). I know SM only started in 2000, but still...good stuff. |

| Kent – The King Is Dead Lyrics

this song is so brilliant. the way it builds up to the chorus is totally mind-blowing.
the best line?
"my IQ allows me to brush you aside," with "I am going ahead with the reinvention of me" as a very, very close second.
as for the meaning...i'm still working on it. |
