Moonsine - I was going to write almost the same thing. I think she's confused as to where things went wrong (ie when the infidelity started) "How was I to know the prirates had come". |

Amazing track. Great for when contemplating your place in the universe, and understanding that there is more to life than our problems. Yearning for escape and knowing the place where you are really is a small speck. |

| R.E.M. – Make It All Ok Lyrics

Gee - this song was a revelation when I first played "Around the Sun". It's possibly the best track on the album. There's seems to be a theme running through all the songs, and that's confrontation and accusations. Count how many times the word "you" is used in the lyrics. Michael has some ghosts and it feels like he's getting more confident in expressing himself in a more direct manner. But it's REM, and all this aggression comes out like a ballad. Wonderful song and one that hits many nerves. |

| Keane – On a Day Like Today Lyrics

A very stiring song, in lyrics and music. His lover is starting to pull away from him and he thinks it's because of his flaws. "Were sick and tired of my wrong turns If you only knew The way I feel i'd really love to tell you."
Can never find the words to say |

I think it's a lover who has come back to the person they deserted. "With the sun in your eyes, and on your own." She's seen the light and has returned. Bedshaped may refer to the fact that this lover may have been sleeping around hence the reason for the split? |

They are much better than the over-rated Coldplay. Keane are just fantastic and this song is great - nice'n catchy. |

| Concrete Blonde – When You Smile Lyrics

This particular guy seems to make Johnette forget about all his flaws and strains in their relationship by....well, smiling. "I could lose everything" could be read many ways. Her anger at him? Her inhibitions? |

Reminds me of my first month in the UK in the winter of 1996, calling close friends in Australia from a phone booth in Russell Square. It was cold, I was lonely and there was someone waiting for the phone......cue the music. |

This song should have been bigger than it was. It's a great thumping, stadium song that always charges you up.
It's about taking stock of your relationship - if there's sign of damage, heal it up. Methinks... |

Fantastic song. Reminds me of being at a party when most the people have left and the remainders are sitting around talking - you might be a bit wasted and tired, but you're still somehow involved by the conversation simply by listening. |

This song reminds me of birthdays I've had when you feel slightly non-plussed. Big deal, it's my birthday, meanwhile I'm stuck in my flat doing nothing but smoking and listening to a cat fight. |

Strange no-one's commented on this. It's not the most complex or deep song CB have done, just a nice, melodic pledge of devotion. Very easy to relate to whether you're a guy or a girl.....there's always that special person that makes you feel the way Johnette obviously did when she wrote this. |
