I am blown away by how much this song sounds like "A Long December" by the Counting Crows. Just listen to the chords, meter, pitch, etc. I still like it, but I can't decide if it's because they sound so much alike. |

My take on this is that there is something missing in his life that he had a grip on before but now, he doesn't know what it is. Or, that sometimes his life get hectic and his friends are there to remind him of who he is, where he came from, and pull him back down to earth, whenever they see the change in him. Either way, this song is badass. |

To me, it just means being alone in a quiet room (duh) just thinking about all the things you love, hate, miss, whatever. I can see that, what with him being on tour non stop.
