This is the first TPR song I heard when my friend made me a mix tape. This is what got me hooked on TPR. I will always love this song because it makes me think of this friend who I adore. I think the lisp is super cute too! |

I love this song. My favourite part is the end when he sings 'there's a break in the choir, double wide, we slipped outside' it is so beautiful! His voice sounds so lush! |

'to the scraping of flatware and china and saran wrap to stifle libido' this is my favourite line in the song. To mean it says, I am so sick of being stuck in a committed relationship without any hot sex! It screams of wanting to get out of the situation. |

I love the ending best! It really does kick ass. That part seems to be about maybe an old partner who has fallen in love with somebody else 'they're playing love songs on YOUR radio tonight, I don't get those songs on mine' as in he's got nobody he's in love with. And you keep fucking up my life, well that's a familiar sentiment!
Interesting about Kerouac references! |

Yeah this song is totally about heroin. 'why don't you stop dying before you go and get it right' stop using or you're going to kill yourself. 'you've been looking for the right blade all your life' somebody who's been looking to self destruct for a long time (probably has already gone through lots of other drugs etc), he keeps talking about bags and that's street talk for heroin (often shortened to 'b' for bag), 'selling off the house so you can buy the farm' selling your possessions to support the habit but ultimately you're gonna die from it 'buy the farm'. As CatfishClyde said, 'let the light in through your arm' , 'cut your teeth out at the pink' heroin rots your teeth, 'amateur chemist' drug user, 'every four hours' needs a fix.
This is the first JTB song I ever heard and it really blew me away, it's super powerful. I love the way it really builds up into a frenzy. I also love the line 'bargain basement lunatic' it's a great description! |

I think the yellow might mean happy? I don't know. This is my friend favourite song on this album but it doesn't do so much for me. However this song is what prompted me to come to this site because the whole yellow thing was buggin him and I thought I could try and find out what it meant. |

This song blows me away completely for all of the reasons stated in the above posts. It's so beautiful. My favourite lines definately are ' I will tell you that I'm fine. I've got some news friend feels like I'm dying' and 'you look like a cool drink just slightly out of reach' He is a very poetic writter. |

I can't get this song out of my head. Since I am in the middle of a serious case of unrequited love it is fitting! 'You don't love me! Aren't thinking of me! Why am I waiting for you to see I'm alive?' Why am I waiting? Anyway I really love the line 'drum up some simpleton for you to eat these apples from your eyes' Simpleton! Great stuff makes me laugh everytime I hear it! I get it totally- let's find you somebody who's shallow and dumb instead of somebody with some depth and a intelligence! |
