| Junior Boys – In The Morning Lyrics | 8 years ago |

This sound had such a different interpretation when I thought he said 'I'd do ya' instead of 'too young'. |

I thought that the chorus had said 'I'd do ya' and the song referenced to having good sex in the morning. Once I read the lyrics, I was disappointed. |

| The Thermals – Now We Can See Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
One way of interpretating this a the writer being a 'native' who cynically adopts the colonial attitude and 'now we can see' his group's wrong ways (there's a couple other references supporting this too). Of course, though, they realize in the end that their changed ways aren't necessarily better when they state 'We should need nothing, nothing at all!' My first interpretation before I actually read the lyrics was about celebrating that there's a new US president and that the US 'can now see' again and change some of the policies that made the USA unpopular in the past few years. |

| k-os – Sunday Morning Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
For me, it's about the anticipation of waking up to a new day in the morning with opportunities to do something more than just party and live in excess (alcohol, etc). He acknowledges how empty the Saturday nights are, but he's surrounded by the excess and doesn't want to be alone (as he states in the chorus). When following morning comes around (on Sunday), he's no longer in that environment and feels a bit more excited. At college, I love waking up on Sunday mornings, it's relatively peaceful. The only other souls awake are the maintenance men and the small animals (squirrels and birds). CourageousInsanity, if I remember correctly, he does not practice a particular religion, but he has explored and studied many of them, and while growing up, his parents practiced Christianity. There's more info on his website about his songs. |

| CeeLo Green – Living Again Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love this song. The lyrics seem pretty evident to me - cee-lo recognizes the inherent worth in his life. I also interpret him saying that 'If life's not worth anything - then why are you living ?' By knowing the value of life , he's thankful for still being alive despite his past mistakes and at the same time, doesn't want his life to end yet. Besides his recognition and appreciation of life, he's calling out others to do the same in the second verse. He starts out with "I said stand up everybody This is your life You gotta get it when you can, ya’ll" It's a call to recognize the value of life and live it (doesn't say much how to live it, except 'to have it and fun this is your (knive) life' and perhaps, a balance of good and bad, as found in verse one. Later in the second verse, Cee-Lo take no excuses for not living. "And if ain’t fear, then what’s stopping you from going Do you not want to be responsible for knowing? ‘Cause ignorance is bliss And ignorance is just so fuckin' ignorant you may even be ignorant of this" This is a call to recognize the value of life and to live it as such. Cee-lo's talent is making this call not sound condescending and make it sound good. |

| OutKast – Da Art of Storytellin' (Part 1) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
"Talkin bout what we gonna be when we grow up I said what you wanna be, she said, 'Alive' - what a great line... I think they were trying to show an example of narrating a story, possibly based on a true story. We're left with a bleak picture of its main character with no conclusion (Outkast could have wanted to leave you hanging without knowing the end). |

| Annie Stela – It's You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
|
From her website it says: "It’s You came from a poem that started with that line and the idea of being at that age where you’re young and you don’t really know anything but you feel like you do, says Stela. but you’re playing with these ideas of love and lust, you know, drinking beer and smoking cigarettes." Personally, I just think she's talking about a crush she had. She knew she was young and naive, but didn't care much - she loved the guy. 'Just say you will' might refer to 'making a career in her music and being successful' This song is really catchy, especially the chorus. It reminds me a lot of the summertime. |

| Sage Francis – Slow Down Gandhi Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
there is so many great rhymes in here: It felt like Kent State the way they targeted the students, I galloped off whistling "Ohio." When the music’s dead I'll have Ted Nugent’s head hangin' on my wall. He makes an allusion to "Arrest the President." I'm not sure if that is directed to the song by Pedestrian or Intelligent Hoodlum. My guess is Pedestrian, who cofounded the Anticon label. |

| Switchfoot – We Are One Tonight Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
It reminds so much of the fluidity and constant change during the college life. Everything seems like such a whirlwind and you sometimes want it to slow down, as Forman says. Though we may have scars resulting from past actions, there's still God (not necessarily God. could be realizing your identity or commitment to another person or ideal as well) with you tonight. |

| Suzanne Vega – Gypsy Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
A great song for the 'perks of being a wallflower' soundtrack... A love song. Woman accepts the fact that she will be leaving her lover soon, but doesn't want him to chase after her; rather just remember her in his life.. Her vocals sound very similar to the lead singer of Mazzy Star - that's who I first thought sang this. |

| The Stills – Still in Love Song Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I love this song.... Seems to be about the speaker who still is infatuated with the subject, even though they [probably she] was acting totally sophomoric and supercilious..... I checked the stills's website - http://www.thestills.net/ and birthcontrolblues' corrections are right according to the website. You can get the entire album's lyrics from there. |

| Revis – Caught In The Rain Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| To me; "Caught In The Rain" is the the trying times and tribulations of a man who was attached to a lover; lost her; and couldn't deal with it. This lead eventually lead him to put himself in some bad situations, and realizes it before it's too late. I love this song, it's inspired me to move on from my battles with depression and lead a more engaged life. | |
