| Van Morrison – Reminds Me Of You Lyrics | 19 years ago |

This one just breaks my heart everytime I listen to it... My head says no, but my soul demands it And everything I do, reminds me of you |

| Van Morrison – Beside You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Kinda get the feeling that Van's idealisied this girl so much that he'd give anything just to be with her. He sees her as a solution to all his problems, and that just being beside her would be the culmination of everything he's ever worked for. Unfortunately, he doesn't yet realize that the only problem with getting your dream girl to fall in love with you is that she eventually becomes real. But for now, he's just consumed by the thought of being with her, even though she seems unattainable. | |
| Van Morrison – Cyprus Avenue Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
What a gorgeous love song... I love the: And wait a minute, yonder comes my lady Rainbow ribbons in her hair Yonder comes my lady Rainbow ribbons in her hair Six white horses and a carriage She's returning from the fair Truly a sound that belonged to Van, and only the Van, of 1969 |

| David Gray – Say Hello Wave Goodbye Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| The end of this song not only contains a line from Morrison's Into the Mystic, but also the entire last refrain is a direct homage to Morrison's masterpeice Madame George (off quite possibly the best album of all time Astral Weeks). If you listen to the end of both this song and Madame George, it's actually quiet erie how close they both are. Amazing song. Waaaay better than the original Soft Cell song. | |
| Van Morrison – Slim Slow Slider Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| "Earthly bliss is transient as is earthly life itself, and we are helpless to do anything about it. Astral Weeks' last note is a cacophony of Morrison slapping the body of his guitar, Davis snapping his bass strings, and Payne forcing stray, ugly notes out of his sax. Suddenly, everything is in shards." | |
| Richard Ashcroft – Science of Silence Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
My god, this is an absolutely gorgeous song. Richard Ashcroft is a pretty underrated song writter. Human Conditions was one of the better albums over the last couple years, should've gotten more press than it did. She's a well to be dug, she's a university A cosmic library - wait and see |

| Peter Gabriel – Washing Of The Water Lyrics | 20 years ago |
| Surprised no one's said anything about this one. I think the song is about suffering something terrible in the past (heartache etc) and then taking steps to move on. The washing of the water imagary links back to the idea of purity/cleansing. Similar to a baptism where sins from the past are forgotten, and one begins with a clean slate. A really beautiful song. | |
