I think a lot of mewithoutYou fans are overtly and obsessively Christian, and that bothers me, as it seems (though his music references the bible) he does always stick to using "Lord, or G d, or Him, or Almighty One..." so as to include an overall idea of spirituality, not to promote Christianity or any one particular religion at all. These things are in his songs because this is what is important to him, aren't they? Too many fans run with these Christian ideas and forget that they are also Jewish and Muslim ideas and, that they may pertain to many beliefs besides their own. What Aaron writes is very beautiful, but I'm sorry to say that what his fans can often get from it is sometimes very obnoxious and ugly. (this applies to most posts on this band's songs, not just the ones on this single song) |

next Nirvana? Get really big? Are either of you kidding? We should have learned by now that talent or quality of music rarely equate to a deserved popularity. Maybe this band will gain some clout if this album is well recieved, but this is not a radio-friendly band. This is not a style of music that can catch on, because its best parts are too unique. Maybe by "real big" you mean that they will sell-out the medium-sized music venue that is one step up from the "Dive Bar." This might be true, but they won't get any bigger than that. |

I know what you mean about this song not being quite like the others. When he introduced this song he claimed the drummer wrote it (explaining the rock-out part of the song, maybe?) but this also might explain the lyrics, so they might be the drummer's words instead of the singers... though this would be a feeling Aaron might have, I wouldn't think he'd have expressed it this way, given every other mewithoutYou song out there. But, as far as drummers writing songs goes, this song is pretty damn good. |

he said on stage this song was sort of about this old two year relationship he had.
he also said he did not mean to offend anyone who is named jen.
the way he sings "i'm alone" is beautiful |

this song is beautiful
my favorite part is the second line "And if you swear that there's no truth and who cares, how come you say it like you're right?" then also "for a ten minute dream in the passenger's seat while the world was flying by, you haven't been gone very long but it feels like a life time."
he captures things so well that I hear him describe the obvious and I feel this BAM of a realization, and i love thatEdited by mellow_harsher on July 23 2005, at 12:42PM |

my favorite lines are "and if you promise to stay conscious i will try and do the same
yeah we might die from medication but we sure killed all the pain"
he sounds so goddamn honest all of the time, and I love it even if it might just be social commentary |

I saw that a few of you have mentioned that the ending "i believe that lovers should be draped in flowers
and layed entwined together on a bed of clover
and left there to sleep
left there to dream of their happiness" seems kind of happy, or it seems like he is coming to peace with it or something, but to me it doesn't seem that way at all. Doesn't it look like he is talking about people being laid in their grave? Draped in flowers in a bed of clover sounds like a funeral to me, and "sleeping and dreaming of their happiness" is both ironic and all you could ever do if the lovers are dead. So, that seems to me why it is even that much more depressing, because it ends on that note. |
