Kevin Devine – Love Me, I'm a Liberal Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
It's definitely based on the Phil Ochs song. I've found that a lot of people aren't catching on to the sarcastic message here. Kevin Devine is opposed to the two big political parties and realizes that true democracy will not be obtained as long as these corporate politicians are in office. The song is directed to those "liberals" who feel like they are fighting a good fight, even though they just do what is convenient and trendy, while often being extremely uneducated. |

Does this song remind anyone else of the movie Grosse Pointe Blank? |

does anyone know what he says directly after "sometimes I hold you right, nice and tight to me sometimes"? I can't make out the next couple of words. |

The version you heard on the cell phone commercial is by Cat Power..which is a much different version. I recommend checking out the original version by The Nerves. It's a classic. |

The Get Up Kids – Sympathy Lyrics
|
Way to fight
You never threatened to stop breathing countless times
When I wouldn't make a sound to baby eyes
The whole thing is a fading senseless blur of concern
But I'm letting go of her
I don't know why it is
Isn't it obvious to me?
It's sympathy
I'm sure that after this
You don't fear anything at all resembling
All her might
Was it the force behind the family?
Bound and tied
Keep the bottle down to our surprise
Suspect you had discipline or nerve to convert
I just didnt think it'd work
For what we give to this
What challeneges persist
What battles we must fight
For what we give to this
A promise to resist
Stand with all your might |
