I agree with John, it seems that Brandon is telling us, the fans, that he can't stay on tour/on the road all the time because his wife and child are waiting for him back home.
I love this song very much. It has a gorgeous melody, and the lyrics are definitely more raw and personal than previous songs. |

Before anyone whines about where this song came from, this was done for Jo Whiley on Radio 1 in England.
I was pleasantly surprised by this cover mash-up of Gwen Stefani and Billy Idol. I really like the theme of time by combining the idea of "start[ing] again" (Billy Idol) with Gwen's song about how life is short. :) Oh, Franz. |

Ok, since nobody seemed to get my point and jumped on the "oh, they r not gay!!!" train.
I don't think it was written to be specifically about a woman, since as I said before, there is no mention of she of any other female-related words. If a man wants to interpret this song for himself, then he can freely do so because the song doesn't specify the gender. That is the beauty of this song, IMHO. That is what I meant when I said you guys were jumping the gun by assuming the "you" was female. I'm sorry I didn't make that any clearer. |

I think that the person who's waiting for the man who doesn't look like Jesus could be either female or male... Come on, read the lyrics. Where does it say "she," "her," or any other words specifying female? You is the only pronoun referring to this person! It's fine that people think it's a girl but I think this song was intentionally written to be vague on the gender of this person. |

I really don't think the lyrics are "i'd really like to feel you with dinner" because 1.) that doesn't make sense and 2.) when he sings that line, it's very incomprehensible but there is definitely no hard sound of the d! But alas, the entire web has that lyric. I need to meet Howie to find out what it is. |

I absolutely love this song, especially the Zooromancer mix! As for what it's about, that's pretty easy. :) It's pertains to the Biblical story where King Herod asked a dancer, Salome, if he could give her a present, so she requested the head of John the Baptist on a platter ("don't make me stick to my promise")! |

Getting back on topic...
I don't know about you guys, but to me, this song oozes sexual tension. It's kind of like the typical Hollywod conundrum of where two people fight and then realize they really just want to be in love, or in most cases, have sex.
On another note, am I the only one who loves the end where the overlapping lyrics make it sound like it's saying "our love destroys us"? |

This is a kickass Bjork cover. I am completely blown away by the impressive job they did covering her, because sucessfully covering Bjork is NOT an easy task. Jared's voice is absolutely gorgeous here!! |

Just because they're not a Christian band doesn't mean they can't write Christian-esque songs. I think this song represents a great need for God. :) |

"The strands in your eyes that color them wonderful
Stop me and steal my breath
Emeralds from mountains thrust towards the sky
Never revealing their depth"
I don't know if I'm misinterpreting this part but is he saying the girl has green eyes? "Emeralds.." Y'know? :D |

I always thought it as a girl loves a guy who loves another girl (who doesn't love him.) yet still lusts over the girl who really loves him. That's the way I've always seen it. *shrugs* |

Yeah, this song is very open-ended and is very easy to interpret into many ways. To me, its always meant what Sweetpoo said; the girl's been a bitch to the only one she's ever really truly loved and then acts like a bitch and treats him like shit and realzies she needs to change and pleads for his forgiveness.
I do see how child molestation plays in this. I think the lines "I've done wrong and I want to
Suffer for my sins" really makes that clear because that's pretty much how all vicitims feel. They feel like its _their_ fault'; not the person who's doing this to them. |

| Michelle Branch – I'd Rather Be In Love Lyrics

what I think this song means is that the woman has a hard time in love and tries to make herself believe she doesn't need love but secretly knows she needs it. and then she finds someone who has stolen for her heart and realzies the loneliness is not what she wants and finds herself much much happier being in love.
