i didnt mean to click on this page, but i did, and i cant help but comment. this song is horrible, people who know what music is would never even think of this song as being remotely good. avril doesnt even know what punk is, one this is for sure though, she is not punk what so ever. |

this song is lyrically incredible. it pisses me off that no one gives dave any credit b/c his lyrics are tainted by his false status as a "pop band". anyway, the lyrics to this song are incredible. "i am who i am who i am, well who am i" is probably one of the most powerful lines i've ever heard in music. |

first of all nasus is absolutely correct, dont tell people their interps are wrong b/c it is all perspective.
i think what makes this song so great is the ending, especially live, i love when the band tags songs onto the end of this. |

this is the greatest song ever, listen to the unplugged version, it makes me cry. i do disagree w/ alot of you, i think the best lyics in this song is "all the love gone bad, turned my world to black, tattooed all i see, all that i am, all i'll be". i think that kinda sums up the whole song, everything is black to him, he'll never be the same.

i think this song follows the whole album concept of the first human clone. i think its about how the people who made kid a ultimately control him. "head on sticks" and "ventriloquists" shows this idea that kid a is being controlled |

i think this song shows the birth of kid a himself. keep in mind i'm following the whole clone idea, but i think "everything in its right place" is showing how the experiment worked and they are seeing the first human clone. "yesterday i woke up sucking a lemon" maybe be kid a talking, saying how he woke up and is alive, but life is sour to him b/c he is not a person, he is a clone. |

i gotta first say that i give aaron lewis props for covering this song, he's got balls. its not easy to cover the greatest poem ever.
secondly, when i found out he covered this song, i thought it was gonna suck. i gotta say it's not half bad, but to say it is better than pearl jam is just ridiculous. thats like saying backstreet boys had a larger affect on rock n roll than led zepplin did.
there is no way anyone will ever sing this song better than eddie vedder, and if you really wanna hear "black" in its full potential, you have to hear eddie vedder sing it live. i must say, the best version of "black" i ever heard was when pearl jam played mtv unplugged, i've never heard anyone express that kind of emotions through a song before, it truely is beautiful.
all in all, nice effort aaron, but it's eddie's song and its only complete when he sings it. |
