Marilyn Manson – A Place In The Dirt Lyrics 23 years ago
I'm not sure if I really put much faith in this interpretation, but I should at least put it forth, ne? ^^ On the Mary-whore lyric...there was another Mary in the Bible that was quite close to Jesus: Mary Magdalen, a prostitute. It could possibly refer to that Mary instead of Madonna Virgin Mary. *shrugs*

Marilyn Manson – Luci In The Sky With Demons Lyrics 23 years ago
Hmm... perhaps "Looking Glass People" is a reference to the Sociology term "Looking Glass Self." Looking Glass Self means that people establish who they are and their actions by seeing their effect on other people. This fits in with how Manson was essentially a creation of our own society. Also kinds of fits with Manson's publicity stategy of doing whatever would probably shock people the most.
That's what I think, anyway. :P

Oh, excuse me for assuming that out of the 6 million people on this planet, that you're not Marilyn Manson.
Besides, I never even accused you of assuming things. All I object to is beating someone down for trying to interpret the song other than the way you do. I never said anything about assuming. Go ahead, read the above post. I know you can do it; they must have taught you SOMETHING in school, after all. See? Now who's manipulating who's words?
"You" means the media?! You go right from telling one guy he's wrong, and then in the next sentence you say that "None of you" understand Manson. It certainly sounded like you were saying that to him and the rest of us instead of the media. If you meant "the media", then you should have said that. Don't just refer to something as "you" without ever telling who exactly "you" is. Geez, I learned stuff like that in middle school English class. I didn't twist anything you said, you're just obtuse. Learn to be clearer. It's not my fault you're so incomprehensible.
Look, I don't have a problem with disagreeing with someone; I certainly didn't agree with his opinion either. Just don't act like you're Queen of the World and have the right to beat someone down for thinking differently from you. There's a difference between disagreeing politely and being an ass about it. Manson has made a lot of statements about the meaning of his songs, but that doesn't mean you have to be a bitch to anyone who's trying to fill in the gaps.
I guess, somehow, that makes me a 'fascist'. Didn't anyone ever tell you to not use words you don't know the meaning of? Why don't you do the world a favor and buy a dictionary.

First let me just say that I agree with a lot of what you said, happylittledemigod. Manson really is a philosopher who should have his work taken more seriously as art and really has something to teach us. Humanity really doesn't realize what a gift they have in Marilyn Manson.
However, I don't see what gives you the right to tell people that they're wrong as if somehow you're any authority. These people are trying their best to discuss and find the hidden meaning behind the lyrics and they don't need to be beaten down for trying. What, would you rather they not try and just take it at face value like all the other media goons?
Besides, I don't see where you have the authority to say what is right and what is wrong about his lyrics. Are you Manson? No, you're not. So you can't possibly say without a doubt that you know what his lyrics mean. Unless I see a signed letter from Marilyn Manson himself that you've gotten ever single lyric correctly interpreted, then I don't see how you're any better than the rest of us.

Marilyn Manson – Lunchbox Lyrics 23 years ago
Well, I do think that in many ways it could be autobiographical. However, I was watching "Driven" on Motley Crue, and it said that as a little boy, Nikki Sixx used to get picked on by bullies. So little Nikki put a bunch of rocks in his metal lunchbox and beat the hell out of them to get them to leave him alone. And we all know that little Nikki Sixx grew up to become a rock god, which fits the song. And Manson did do a lot of research about different bands, so I think Manson probably wrote this song orginally about Nikki Sixx but also related it to himself because he felt the same way, and he used to carry around a lunchbox when he was older and no one else did, yadda yadda. Anyway, that's my opinion.
