political lyrics arent hate messages that say 'fuck the government and what it stands for.' every act of revolution is an act of love. think about that one. oh, and i have no problem with 'emotional' lyrics. i just like mine to have a bit more gusto, a bit more poetry, and a bit more fervor to them. most mountain goats songs come to mind. but the library of mountain goats songs here is rather limited. check out www.themountaingoats.net. |

okay, i accept the fact that genres of music change, but the fact is, how many of the kids that are 'punks' these days actually know their roots? i see young kids around wearing black flag shirts that they bought at hot topic, and i highly doubt they know of the significance of henry rollins and the diy ethic. regarding socio-political lyrics: every fugazi album has gone at least gold (selling 100,000 copies), and those are some charged lyrics. and their shows are routinely packed. i will mention, but not dwell on, some other bands: operation ivy, the unseen, bad religion, propaghandi. oh, and i, we, were never anti-american. we were anti-corruption. i admit, we have it great over here. the problem is this: people arent satisfied with what they have. and we wont stand for our fellow citizens being as such. and the government should change...but it wont. thats the beauty of the art: having hope to the end, fighting against impossible odds. we're hopeless romantics. |

i dont listen to limp bizkit. and here is how i can call this song boring: musically, these guys (and gal) arent doing anything impressive at all. if youre looking for something that has a unique and masterful sound, check out fugazi (for standard rock) or dj shadow. shadow's music is all samples. you might try to tell me that taking other people's work isn't talent, except he takes bits and pieces from hundreds of totally different songs and puts them together to form one piece of music. lyrically, this song is just too blunt. it gets its 'point' across by pounding you with a hammer. its okay to write bitter love songs, but come on, make them a little more poetic, because love and hate are poetic emotions. all emotions are poetic. which is why music is great for expressing emotions. sadly, the days of music and poetry being as one are dwindling. |

did you know that in latin, there are no articles, so the 'the' would not even exist. why, then, does it need to exist here? it might be nice to have it, as it provides the idea of uniqueness, being a definite article and all. |

umm shouldnt it be "::shoots himself/herself::?" i mean, if youre going to start the phrase off in the third person, shouldnt it end in the same manner? its fine if you want to do first person, but if so, you should have an entire first person phrase, such as "::i shoot myself::" or "::i blow my brains out::" but then, i suppose that shatters the whole emote thing, but still, get it right. |

does anyone remember minor threat? see, hardcore punk is dead. deader than dead. please dont call this hardcore. as far as im concerned, this is pop. bad pop. there was a time when lyrics were concerned with idea(l)s of a socio-political nature, when music was still being used as an 'indirect force for change.' what happened? |
