ok ok, jack was born and raised in hawaii, but now lives in Santa Barbara, CA. His wife, Kim, teaches at my high school. He wrote the song about her because she has big, fat toes. The tar balls and scars are from being on the beach and surfing all the time. And if it isnt enough that jack makes fun of her fat feet, the part about moving like a jellyfish, and rythym meaning nothing is b/c Kim can't dance! She's always way off beat and its really pretty funny to watch. But then again, how many women can say that a silly song that their husband sang to her around the house is now a huge hit? jack and kim are way cute together, at the last concert i saw, he added a verse to this song saying how after all they've been through, they're still in love. lucky her! |

first of all, hell yeah jack johnson representing SB all over! he's gotta the the most mellow and chill guy ever. he taught me how to surf when i was about 10, gotta love the surf and kayak camp! this song, i've heard, is written for a professor at UCSB who inspired jack in some class into looking past images and seeing the deeper meaning in life. its not all about being "in", its being able to see whats "out". |
