To me this song is about being something your not. "This is you trying hard to make sure that you're seen With a girl on your arm and your heart on your sleeve " He is try to Show off his girl just soo that he will impress everyone, so they will think he is "cool". "This is me with the words on the tip of my tongue " He wont say what he really thinks or wants to say becase they may not like him if he really says how he feels. Soo he just holds it in.
