this song is about Christianity. we've become hardened to "the least of these, crying in the streets" because it's too hard for us. we'd rather skirt around the hardest rocks. the rain is a renewal, revival of God's people, and a bringing of others to Himself. |

it makes me sad that there are no comments for our dear friend Damien. being as he's freaking brilliant. this is a good song. it's off of the Waters Ave. S album, which everyone should have. |

there's no such thing as "just a song." people don't spend hours/days/weeks/months perfecting "just a song". songs have meaning. even if you personally think they're stupid. like songs about hot dogs and butterflies. |

this kills me. a person just writes a note saying what they think about the song, and it always eventually gets to everyone yelling at them because they mentioned religion. it's true, Dustin says that he's a christian. if you don't believe that, go to Decapolis.com and read the interview. this is obviously going to have some influence on the lyrics. if that bothers you, fine. if it doesn't, fine. don't go ballistic on someone just because they said he was a Christian and subsequently wrote a song about the way it affects his life. be intelligent. don't make yourselves look like such biggoted idiots.
by the way, this wasn't meant for everyone, just those who deserved it. |

umm amen just means 'i agree'. learn definitions, it will help you look like less of an idiot. also, i like how some people interpret this song like its supposed to be autobiographical... NO... he's showing the twisted thinking of the screwed up character. okay, i'm out. |

haha, fading, isn't that true. although i think HM will hold on to any person that says theyre a christian... for dear life. but i won't go into that. this ties for my second favorite on the album. my fave is magazine, but this one's imagery is awesome... but Second Best could make me cry if i listened to it enough. it's just a great album. |

Specifically to "bpuppy" above...
I think the line "replaceable" was mentioning has nothing to do with Christian hoops. He/she was probably talking about those boundaries God set up for us in the Bible (you should check it out, Bazan wrote a song about those boundaries given to "save you from certain death" in the song "Of Minor Prophets and Their Prostitute Wives." My question to you is, why can't a Christian (say, me or "replaceable") be concerned about another Christian, which Bazan is by his own declaration. and God DOES care whether we condone certain immoralities, otherwise he wouldn't have set up the boundaries in the first place. i personally think the album is brilliant, but there's no reason for anyone to think he is condoning the practices sung about in his songs... the album was created to show this world's sicknesses. at least that's what Bazan is saying in interviews.
at any rate, i didn't write this to tear you down, just thought i'd clear the air between you and old "replaceable" and protect Pedro's good name. |

thanks for being smart mimicry, so i didn't have to explain this album for the 5 millionth time (try when your mom finds the album is like "WHAT KIND OF SICK CRAP ARE YOU LISTENING TO! yeah she didn't get the art). |

yeah, replaceable, it's talking about sex, but he's drawing analogies, and telling a story... not necessarily condoning the actions of the characters in the story. although i think that some of it could have been less graphic. personal preference. |
