| Scary Kids Scaring Kids – Star Crossed Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"If the words make their way from your mouth, Don?t ask my permission, All is forgiven." Someone above had a little touble with this part. How I see it is this: "The words" are referring to those three words with the most meaning in the world: "I LOVE YOU." If those words were to come from her mouth, if she were to return them to him, she should not hesitate, or "ask permission" to say them. He will forgive all that has happened between them to start a new and get their love back. |

| Erin McCarley – Love Save the Empty Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Love is the only thing that will make her feel complete. She looks for love by hooking up with men (Face down on top of your bed) but knows that this is not love, just "false affection." But it's more than no affection at all, and although it hurts to realize that, it hurts less than having nothing. The uncertianty of when she will actually find real love kills her, but she'll keep looking until it's there. Hits so close to home... |

| Incubus – Oil and Water Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
HERE's MY CRACK AT iT: You and I are like oil and water And we've been trying, trying, trying... Ooooh to mix it up (This portion sets the scene for the song - It's about two people that have been working harder than they could imagine to make a relationship work, but the two are too different, such as oil and water, to make it. The repetition of "trying" highlights this fact, creating a sense of desperation and frustration) We've been dancing on a volcano And we've been crying, crying, crying Over blackened souls (The two in question don't want to acknowledge the situation - they are treading dangerous ground in admitting that they will not work. But there is love and emotion left - again with the repition of "crying" it shows how much is at stake for both parties and how much emotion has gone into the relationship and its attempt to salvage it) Babe, this wouldn't be the first time It will not be the last time There is no parasol that can shelter this weather (This has happened before, but they have stuffed the feelings away, hiding behind a facade of happiness. The parasol represents something pretty to show the outside world - he could have used umbrella, but that is a parctical item whle a parasol is just for show. They are hiding their turmoil behind a pretty facade, but nothing that pretty could hide the storm that exists between them.) I've been smiling with anchors on my shoulders But I've been dying, dying, dying Oooh to let them go (This is similar to the parasol idea. He's "smiling" to the outside world to make everyone believe he is happy, all while carrying this tremendous emotional burden on his shoulders - "anchors." Repetition again happens here with "dying," stressing the desperation and the longing to finally admit to everyone, including himself, what he really feels) Babe, this wouldn't be the first time It will not be the last time There is no parasol that could shelter this weather Babe this wouldn't be the first time It will not be the last time We tried to believe everything would get better (The two have tried to acknowledge their fate before, but stay together with the hopes of working it all out. But two personalities cannot change, and despite their belief that they canmake it work, it just cannot) We've been Lying to each other Hey babe Let's just call it, call it, call it Oooh what it is Oil and water (They cannot lie to themselves anymore. "Let's just call it what it is" is beinging their fate out into the open - they are not the right people for each other. I believe their relationship is ended after this. Repeating "call it" is saying something to the effect of "calling it a day" and ending it. They are too different. There may be much love between the two, but the are not meant to be. They can never "mix") |

| Rob Thomas – Problem Girl Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
this song is definitley about letting go of other's negative thoughts about you and being stronger because of it. there was a time in my life when those around me kept me feeling alienated and on the outside because of a life decision i had made, and i was down very low because of it. those people's opinions of me mattered to me more than my own... but then i heard this song and it opened my eyes to what was happening aorund me. the line "You know they're only what they think of you" stuck with me. the people keeping me down, my critics, were criticizing me for things they themselves were guilty of. once i stopped worrying about what people thought, they saw the confidence blooming, and would never dare speak those things to me again. i figured out that i was not a "problem" and let it be known. if i didnt give them a reason to believe i was a "problem," they could never say i was. Thanks Rob Thomas! |

| Evanescence – Missing Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i totally agree about the song being about a parent. The first time i hear it i pictured a girl and her mother leaving her father. like the girl is ni the car with her mother driving away from their home and the life they had with him, and shes thinking this, these things she wants to say to her father, but she knows he won't be listening even if she said them out loud. very powerful, love to hear it. | |
| Queen – Fat Bottomed Girls Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i myself am a fat bottomed girl (not as big as they may come, but im proud of my ass!) and we do have alot to offer. But skinny girls do too. Theyre fun to talk to also and they may also have pretty faces or be able to kick some ass... while bigger girls have a lot going for them also... all women posess different attributes, no matter their sizes. anyway, whether youre skinny or fat, this song can be great! its a celebration of the "narrator's" love for big women, but all women can celebrate even the smallest amount of ass they have while listening to this song. It makes us grateful for even the slightest bit of fat on our asses because we know someone is noticing and liking it. |

| Queen – Don't Stop Me Now Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| this song lifts me up whenever i hear it... whenever i have a down day i put it on in my car and just sing along and rock out! (i might be getting some weird looks from people... but who cares! the song is great!). Ive heard people say that this song is about drugs and the feeling of getting high, but i never looked at it what way... i like to look at it like youre high on life. Youre living in the moment and no time can ever be greater than now... youre "having a ball" in life! | |

| Lifer – Perfect Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
This is an amazing song! Its harder on their first album (No Need, as Strangers With CAndy) but on the Lifer album its acoustic (its the hidden track, #13 at 4:20). You can really hear the emotion in Nick's voice when he sings it... its amazing! |
