The album this song is off is called "Free All Angels" and you can buy it pretty much anywhere, it had like 5 singles off it released. Their latest album is called "Intergalatic Cosmic 7s" and it features their new single "Envy". I think its a 7inch collection but I'm not sure and most probably wrong |

I'm gonna get a load of insults for this but, hey, remember EVERYONE is free to have their own opinions.
I don't mind avril, but I really wish she would try to stop being "punk" and going around dissing the people like her. She IS like Britney Spears. She sings "popular" music. This is not "true" punk rock. Sure, she can feel free to make "pop" music and dress like "a punk" but wasn't that what most people would call ::mock horror:: a trendy?
I know this song pisses me off for no other reason than she's talking about how people "judge" "skater boys", I mean, I know I don't. I love "skater boys" being a "skater" myself. For all the people that supposedly "judge" them, there are a whole load of people that don't.
Anywho, like I said, this is MY opinion of her, not yours so you don't HAVE to point out all the flaws in MY point of view because it's my thoughts.
Now if you will excuse me I'm off to listen to some tsl.

hmmmm.... someone (not gonna bother to name names) up there said "No, not all punk girls are lesbians. But a lot of them are". Ummmm exactally how many "punk girls" do you know? I am a "punk girl" (a girl who enjoys the punk genre and agrees with many of the ideals, and dresses like a "punk") and so are many of my friends and as far as I know, we are not a big old bunch of lesbians. Please refrain form making generalisations like that because it just makes you sound pretty damn stupid and rather small minded.

And whoever was saying there are no girls in rock to name a few: The Distillers, Kittie, The Donnas, Garbage, Ash... All these bands feature at least one girl. Hrrmmpphhh. Maybe I'm bitter and twisted cos no one talks about my songs...

no, i hate to say but you are wrong there. The title is the opposite way round to the chorus, I'm completely in love with the band and on the cd, "Without You I'm Nothing" in the track listing it says "Every You Every Me"

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH you people are making my head hurt!!!!!!!!! You're all arguing the same points! Everyone is fighting against each other when every single person involved is saying "MTV sucks" is some way or another.
Now kiddy-winks, how many of us live in the UK, NZ, Australia etc.? Well judging by the "moshers" and "townies" comment someone made a few posts up there is at least one other person. So, back to my point about living outside the US. It was, a little while ago, a tad challenging to hear about great new bands from the US that aren't "mainstream" or whatever. The radio didn't play them and "kerrang" magazine and tv were your only options. So, therefore, if you had no other way of hearing about these people, watching MTV and looking out for something half decent was acceptable.
Oh, and before you go and check my favourite band list to see if I know what I'm talking about, yes, blink are on there, but unless you've heard "Chesire Cat" or "Dude Ranch" you have no right to judge. Secondly I am 13 but looking at the posts some of you made further up I seem to have a more mature attitude towards music than a few people.
Right, back to the MTV argument. Yes, so living in a different country makes it hard to go and see underground punk bands from the US, but now because of the joys of the internet we can listen to these bands in our own homes. What a fantastic creation!
So, my advice to all of you is to let the MTV crowd listen to punk for a few weeks, hey, it might do them some good, but the craze will eventually pass and we can all listen to our music peacefully in our narrow minded little ways.

Exuse me girlwholikesmusic but where exactally did you hear most of the music you listen to? Admittidly I didn't hear this song on MTV and I am into older Alkaline Trio, but this song was played on MTV2, the "alternative" side of MTV. Alkaline Trio happen to like fans who will accept their new material, its people like YOU that make them want to give up writing music. You come in here all "I'm so high and mighty because I heard of Alkaline Trio before you" when really you clearly know nothing whatsoever about them. "Stupid Kid" contains what most of Alkaline Trio songs do: regret, exellent vocals and lyrics, plus truely amazing guitar hooks. Do you know this much about all your other favourite bands? Cos if you do I know a hell of a lot more about them than you do! |

All these people saying "oooh No Doubt had to change their sound, otherwise it's just boring" are making me sick!!!! Usually I am incredibly rational and understanding of other people's views (check out my other posts) but this times it's gone way too far! Please take a moment to think about all the bands that have kept their sound the same over a number of years. Some examples include Bad Religion - a band that have been around well over 10 years and had Mr. Brett leave the band and come back, yet haven't changed their sound and are still great. Less Than Jake - Have been around something like 7 years (anyone who knows help me out here), and have about 6 members, and play ska, haven't changed their sound. And finnally NOFX - a band thats been around for 16(!) years and they have hardly changed at all, they've just got fatter as time goes on!
So please, please, explain to me how over the last 2 years No Doubt have gone from being an amazing band, worthy of Bradley Nowell's (RIP) friendship to Gwen and her backing group, yet they still deserve our love and support cos I sure as hell can't figure it out! |

Let me explain the song to you, kiddies (I am not calling you kiddies ironically as I am explaining something, but I call everyone kids, kiddies or children). During the writing process of "Return Of Saturn" Gwen and Gavin had just broken up. Gwen was pretty mad and pretty devastated so she wrote a whole load of songs about Gavin. This song is where she is trying to reason with herself that she's better off without him and they didn't make the perfect couple anyway but then she thinks despite all his faults she still really loves him. |

God this song is causing a lot of people a lot of problems. Back in the good old days when No Doubt were more ska and rock influenced, they were really good friends with Sublime. What would Brad say about all of this if he was still alive? I am sure as hell that he would want nothing to do with No Doubt anymore. Yes, they are changing their sound but is it what the BAND wants or is it what GWEN and the RECORD COMPANIES want. Read the "Rock Steady" liner notes and you'll see what I mean. This song reminds me of a story. I met this guy on holiday, his name was Ben if anyone cares. Anyway, Ben and I were talking and we found out we liked the same music. Ben had been to a punk gig in London called Deconstruction that I had wanted to go to. Lagwagon headlined there as it happens. So, we got on to the topic of Lagwagon and what an amazing band they are. He asked me what my favourite song was and just as I was about to answer he said "Don't say fucking 'May 16' or I will have to kill you!" I was silenced by this comment and he explained why. "The only reson people have heard of Lagwagon cos it was on fucking 'Tony Hawk's'. A load of people were at Deconstruction and when Lagwagon were playing they weren't into it cos they didn't know any songs, then they played 'May 16' and all these kids pushed past me and were like 'YEAH! We love Lagwagon!' All because it was on 'Tony Hawk's'." I thought to myself and wondered if he did have a point about it. It seems to me that it's a shame that Ben had to hate his favourite band for around 3 mins because of this song. But hey, it's not a bad song, but just remember to listen to other Lagwagon as well, don't let this song and "Tony Hawk's" eclipse the other masterpieces like "Making Friends", for example. |

Well first of all, yeah, I'm only 13, but this doesn't mean you have the right to label me a "teeny bopper" before I ever start to make a point, because along with most of the people here, I admit that I am an "elitist" of some kind. Right, glad I made that clear.
Now I know when you read that I was 13, most of you immediately labeled me as having no idea what the fuck I was on about, which re-inforces most peoples' points about "posers" and other such crap. And also please refrain from using the words "greebo" and "grungers", the only people that use those words are "nu-mettlas" that have no idea what the hell music is, not sensible individuals like yourselves.
Now, I was kinda mad when I saw this song on MTV. I screamed "SELLOUTS!" at the T.V and my friends seriously considered sedating me. But then I thought, wait a minute, just cos they're making money from their passion doesn't meant that I have to stop liking them in true "poser" style.
Sure, in like 2 weeks the punk craze will die down and leave us alone to listen to our music but untill then, we will all have to live in punk harmony, just like the original punk bands never intended.
