Colldoll: Go to http://coheedandcambria.com And someone from the boards there tried to figure out the lyrics, and this is what they came up with: wide wide wide open wide open wide open cassio, could you love me more? more can we be friends? on a journey to Tibet I call freedom words unsung Hold me close don't let the wind follow don't let the wind take us away cassio why the fuck would you do anything in the world that long? it's my freedom! cassio, cassio cassio, can you stomach what i've done oh, to your soul? to your soul can we drown? get caught in muddy waters? when you're down? whenever i die Hold me close don't let the wind follow don't let the wind take us away cassio why the fuck would you do anything in the world that long? it's my freedom! cassio, cassio... never let me go she's been higher its my fault she never let up its my only way out its the only salvation ooh yea. its my final regret down (don't fall) come crashing down down down now we're crashing down down yeah (higher) down why cassio? cassio why cassio? Although someone else did suggest that it was "what the fuck is anything worth at all" and not "why the fuck would you do anything in the world that long? " and I agree. Flapjack Finn, perhaps this will help you on interpreting the song. |

Mad Capsule... where did you hear that? While we're on the topic of genres *puke*, they can be a bitch and are confusing, but we need them. Could you imagine going into a record store and trying to look for Pantera, and seeing it next to a Prince album? Anyhow, sub-genres are what I have a problem with. They're okay to a certain extent... until you start adding more than one word (like Melodic Death Metal) , or changing one word up a bit (ie. screamo). So yeah, back to this song, it's great and stuff, and well thanks a bunch to Mad Capsule. |

Claudio: There's actually a concept that runs with the band and its records, and Coheed & Cambria are probably the main elements of the story, so we decided to go with that. http://www.punk-it.net/Interviews/coheed.html ^read^ |

0_o This site has been down for months! Woo. Anyway, excuse my ignorance, which is appearant in my last post, which was posted months ago. I didn't say I agreed with Ted, I was just telling you what I've been told. What I really wanted was feedback on it. :-) And appearantly, if you have the book, the songs are much easier to understand. |

| Coheed and Cambria – Devil in Jersey City Lyrics | 23 years ago |
| I don't know... The only place I've ever heard them palyed is community radio, which most people don't even know about. And for the most part, for the ones that do know about it, well, they immediately assume that it is all crap because it's not what's popular, so they don't listen to it. But really, I didn't even hear of them until a few months back and I didn't actually remember who they were until about a month ago. | |

by todayxisxaxgift on 07-22-2002 @ 10:51AM You people, emo emo emo.. emo isn't even a certain type of music, because every type of music is emotional, I mean rappers rap about beer and girls and if that makes them happy, then happy is an emotion isn't it, so that is emo because its an emotion, rethink what you're saying here kids.. emo is just a fashion statement.. oh and coheed & cambria is amazing, Claudio's voice is surreal :( Please read what I said above this post. I'd really really like to know what this song is about. by the way, if this doesn't work, just ignore it. Italliac |

emo - short for "emotional." Emo is a broad title that covers a lot of different styles of emotionally-charged punk rock. Emo bands: Rites of Spring Moss Icon Native Nod Hoover Emo-core bands: Embrace Rites of Spring Dag Nasty Fugazi Hardcore Emo: Heroin Reach Out 7 Swing Kids Portraits of Past Post emo indie rock: Christie Front Drive Boy's Life Boy's Life/Christie Front Drive The Promise Ring *Credit goes to "Ted Bundy" from the Much Music message boards.* |

Come to think of it, this probably IS about masturbation. Why else would Blink 182 do a cover of it? Hehe. But really, the lyrics DO point to that conclusion... |

| Sum 41 – What We're All About Lyrics | 23 years ago |
|
They are NOT "trying too hard to be punk". You stupid fools... Read it. Listen to this song. Have you even tried? And this song was on the first album (yes, they did change it, I know, but not THAT much) so you can't say "they used to be a good band". As I was saying, listen to the song. "**ROCK!** It's what we're all about!" Not punk. Rock. I know this song isn't really rock either, but stop trying to call them punk poseurs when they said they are about rock not punk. Think about it, their roots aren't even from punk, they came from metal and rock. And I would call them rock. Just not this song. |
