| P.O.S. – P.O.S. Is Ruining My Life Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I've decided to beat a dead horse and post what I believe to be the correct lyrics. I've loved P.O.S. for a while now, and have listened to this song more times than I can tell. Hopefully that means something. "If you come down and just breathe, and just breathe in and out (Whole lot better)... It was buried under a flask in a Carton (could be 'and I caught it') peeking from the bottom of a glass All this nonsense, innocence, common sense, consequence... Indulgence in bourbon, this herb A twin city kid's just disturbed I look around and see the same shit from her She can just sit silent, watch her life just pass by in a blur Ain't it funny We can sneak into our lives in a stir Over the perfect things to say and then just choke on the words Everybody wanna be the next Everybody wanna be in step Everybody wanna fuck Everybody want the consequence While playing the fence Everybody's got shit luck Everybody wanna move to they own beat Everybody wanna make a dent Every girl's just lookin' for the next best thing Every boy's in love with his girl's best friend Everybody hates me, everybody wanna fight... We can't stand to wake up with the sun, But can't sleep in the moonlight I'm right there with ya I'm sick within my own skin I've got the clothes and the jaded grin I'm at the bar or the coffee shop But I don't like drinkin' and I fuckin' hate coffee shops I'm off to stop the world It's been spinnin' like a tilt-a-whirl This ain't amusement, I'm-a lose it... (Two cents, two cents, this bullshit...uh) Give two cents And everybody seems to have the same change but can't break my five-oh (or five up) Two cents... But I can't spare nothin' if I'm holdin' the cup, it's like... If you come down and just breathe And just breathe in and out You'll feel a whole lot better Close your eyes, disappear If you can't see them, then they can't see you ...Right? Close your eyes. I can never be what I wanna be, nothin' but a man Nothin's evil inside of me, nothin I can understand If I try So I try To get a grip, a hold, a handle, a hand (Repeat) This... (or 'fist') And it's strained, I think it might break Scratch Crack Silence This... And it's strained, I think it might break Scratch Crack... I... live in a city like any other, We all live alone The only difference is we don't seem to know it Frozen and lonesome, Winter's cold In the Summer, gotta wait for the loathing Holding our posture so low And we drink, so there's not much worth noting Strolling, so vacant, so shaken So cold, so gone, so mistaken So broke, so... So complacent, So worn out, so worn out, so worn out So full of doubt So full of restraint, so full of that self control ...or the lack thereof That we doubt the soul Chorus I can never be what I wanna be Nothin' but a man. Nothin's evil inside of me, nothin' I can understand If I try... So I try To get a grip, a hold, a handle, a hand, A fist. (or this)" Gotta love lyrical confusion. Anyway, how about what it means? The struggle for our ideal selves, or not even that. I think it's just about how we strive to be something we're not, and convince ourselves that it's better than what we are. Also, we ignore our problems sometimes, close our eyes to them...hard for me to explain, but you can definitely feel it when you listen to the song lol. Awesome song, awesome artist. |

| Brand New – The Archers Bows Have Broken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I only got to page 2 of the comments, so I don't know if I'm being redundant, but here's what I think of the meaning. I generally dislike reading into things and applying them to politics, because I generally dislike politics. Therefore, I think it's generally about beliefs, intent, and actions. The first stanza about carrying the torch can apply to everyone. Who do you speak for, and what are you choosing to have an impact on in your life? Are your words and actions speaking truly for you and the things you believe, or are you complacently following? "If we sweat all these debts then we're sure to drown" sounds to me like a statement about over-worrying and making things bigger than they really are. If every person were to worry about every little thing they "owe" others, or every mistake they've made, then what does that say about the significance they're putting on their lives? Seems like kind of a waste of time and effort to me. Live, let live, and leave your mark where you choose. The chorus reinforces what I think is the bigger picture in the song. "Shouting so loud, you barely joyous, broken thing...you're a voice that never sings" addresses a person who fights for something they may not truly believe. It could be someone who says and does certain things to impress those around them, or someone who blindly follows a certain faith. It's all very pervasive. My way of saying the same thing to someone would be to say, "For someone who talks a lot, you sure don't say much." "What did you learn tonight?" What good do we get from fooling ourselves and being complacent in ignorance? Put meaning behind your words. Represent your true self in all you do. Don't just do things to be impressive or to gain status. Find out who you are, then BE it. "Beating with a book everyone that book tells you to love" definitely applies to the Bible and a certain type of Christian -- not all Christians. This is the type that forgets that to be truly Christian is to maintain love for all God's creations. Some Christians take their mission of spreading the word to an extreme, and take it upon themselves to attack those who, according to their interpretations of the Bible, live in sin. According to this book, God loved everyone. He did not love everything that everyone did, but he loved everyone. Some people think that hatred will show people the error of their ways, but that's not the case. "You can only blame yourself" -- The target of these words has failed time and time again to see the error of their own ways, and instead is blaming others, failing to acknowledge their individual responsibility. If we do not question ourselves and the things we believe, our beliefs will eventually crumble on weak foundations, and no one else is to blame for that. "The God I believe in never worked on a campaign trail" -- Just that. Campaigns imply coercion and convincing others to believe. This God doesn't want to manipulate us into believing. He is what he is, and he wants acceptance. He will not trick us into accepting him, however, because that is not in his nature. By the way, I'm not a Christian or an Athiest; I'm just giving my humble opinion here. |

| Fall Out Boy – Hand of God Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
This is a great song, in my opinion. And HomelessHeart is right, like that needed to be said again lol... I really, really wish this song had been put on the CD. I'm just glad, though, that even though it's NOT on the CD, we still got to hear it, 'cause it's a worthwhile song...and yeah, the line "been gone more days this year than i have been home" reminds me of Brand New's "I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light," but it's still its own song and I love it. :) |

| My Chemical Romance – The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You Lyrics | 20 years ago |
|
i think the meaning fits with the whole concept album thing...he likes her but wants to kill her yadda yadda...and i don't have a single problem with the idea of a concept album. it is, after all, just another interpretation of the meaning...therefore, the idea that it is a concept album should be respected just as much as any other analysis of the songs. and yes...gerard is sexy because of his looks and his talent. so is frank. nothing wrong with mentioning that either. |

| Placebo – Johnny and Mary (Robert Palmer cover) Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| typical american relationship these days, i'd say. | |
| Placebo – I'll Be Yours Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
brilliantsavvy is making lots of sense to me. i definitely agree more with the interpretation that he's the escape for the person he loves when they're in pain. |
|
| Placebo – Hang On To Your IQ Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| word. | |
| Placebo – Haemoglobin Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i hope this doesn't sound racist or anything, but the last verse makes me think of how many african-americans today are still hung up on what was done to their ancestors... "Theories of conspiracy The whole world wants my disappearance I'll go fighting nail and teeth You've never seen such perseverance Gonna make you scared of me" some african-americans today feel like caucasians are still against them, and so they're filled with anger at their history and feel they have to fight to be taken seriously. that's just the first thing that popped into my head when i heard that verse. |
|
| Placebo – Every You Every Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i agree with the whole casual relationship idea, and with what dmdevil and Twister8138 said, for the most part. my favorite lines are: "Like the naked leads the blind. I know I'm selfish, I'm unkind Sucker love I always find, Someone to bruise and leave behind" i see myself, and people in general, in that part. i do realize that in many ways, i am selfish and unkind...and however evil it may be, a lot of people like to mess with others and get them to feel some sort of an emotion as a response to their actions, be it pain, anger, or sadness. |
|
| Placebo – Drink You Pretty Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
I LOVE IT. "lie to me...it takes less time to drink you pretty" great lines. |
|
| Placebo – Days Before You Came Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| whether or not this is what they mean, i've always thought the lines "Days before you came, freezing cold and empty... counting breaths inside me" etc. meant that before he met this person, he was empty and every moment was just a second closer to death and didn't hold any meaning to him...this person gave his life substance and meaning... | |
| Placebo – Black-Eyed Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i'm so glad that someone mentioned the fact that schizophrenia is NOT the same thing as split or multiple personalities... | |

| Del Amitri – Roll To Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| and "tell her this"! | |
| Placebo – This Picture Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
yeah, even though the whole meaning isn't clear to me, i know a lot more than i did, so thanks for the info. the james dean thing is interesting. i think placebo is my all-time favorite band. and if you know me, you know that's saying a lot. |
|
| Thrice – Silhouette Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| i just think of it as him being so entranced with a girl, and her eyes speak truths to him that he otherwise couldn't see...her eyes (her spirit, this girl in general) give him a new perspective on the rest of the world. a parallel to that would be if you were to see a beautiful landscape or an incredible piece of artwork, or fall in love with a person as he has, and then you may try to find that beauty and amazing quality in the rest of the world, but you find that nothing that profound exists there. you can only see it in this artwork or this person. make sense? | |
| System of a Down – Chop Suey! Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| a lot of this sounds like an immature "my religion is better than yours" argument. christians can be very annoying, yes...but don't make yourself look ignorant by saying they're threatened by other religions, and don't assume that you know what anyone's motives are for what they do. | |
| Britney Spears – Everytime Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| suicide is more than something you see on television and imitate, anyway...and anyone who is that impressionable needs help. | |
| Seether – Broken Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i love seether and i love this song...the version with amy lee is awesome, too. btw, i saw the punisher today and it ROCKED. |
|
| Modest Mouse – Float On Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
i haven't heard this song yet, but i love the lyrics. i don't really think there IS such a thing as non-conformity anymore because of the fact that being an individual has become the new thing for everyone to try out, and everyone wants to be different...which pretty much makes the act impossible. and mary-kate and ashley turn 18 on june 13. don't ask how i know, i just do. |
|
| Hanson – If Only Lyrics | 21 years ago |
|
taylor is a pretty great-looking guy. can't deny it. and this song is beautiful and i love it. i love the line "if only you'd look at me and want to stay" who can say they've never felt that way? and it's a beautiful and poetic way of saying "i wish you'd care about me the way i do for you". |
|
| Del Amitri – Tell Her This Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| incredibly beautiful song...poetic, candid lyrics and a simple melody...speaks for itself. perfection. | |
| Del Amitri – Roll To Me Lyrics | 21 years ago |
| definitely one of those perfect songs that make you nostalgic and happy and that will never lose their greatness. | |
| Placebo – This Picture Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
my god. no one has commented on this? it's the epitome of poetry. if anyone knows the story behind this song, please tell me, especially the "farewell the ashtray girl" part. |
|
| Garbage – Androgyny Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i agree with the message of freedom to love whomever you please, and giving in to what feels right for you. it's tragic that some homo- or bisexuals feel the need to worry about how people see them just because of who they love. | |
| Fiona Apple – When the Pawn... Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
i love that she used it as the title. and if you try you can remember it. so ha. |
|
| Cherry Poppin Daddies – Zoot Suit Riot Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| zoot suits were outlawed because, since the world was in the middle of a war, good fabric was scarce and hard to come by. zoot suits required a lot of fabric, and were therefore considered a waste of fabric. some people believed that those who continued to wear the suits were being unpatriotic and used that as an excuse to beat them up. | |
| Bright Eyes – A Perfect Sonnet Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
those are the most beautiful words i have ever read. this is my new favorite song. |
|
| The Starting Line – The Best of Me Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i love the part where he says "next time i'm in town, we will kiss, girl". | |
| Dashboard Confessional – Hands Down Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| this is one of my favorite dashboard songs. i love all of them, though, because each of them has at least one profoundly beautiful line. it'd be redundant to say what an incredibly talented writer chris is..but yeah. he's definitely one of the best. | |
| Serial Joe – Completely Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| sweet. | |
| Serial Joe – Absence Of Mind Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
beautiful. i love the part "pieces that used to fit so well have broken edges..it's hard to tell" |
|
| Serial Joe – Mistake Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
i have to start by saying simply... i love serial joe. i love them. i heard them for the first time a few years ago when mistake came out and from then on..yep..i love em. but no one here knows who the hell they are, which sucks. this is one of those situations where i'd love to be a canadian. i'm in america, tennessee, no less... but ryan's voice is incredible, all the guys are so amazing. and this song will always be sentimental and nostalgic for me because it was the first i heard from them. i haven't heard any of their new stuff, but i'm going to stop being lazy and i WILL download it all if i can find it. serial joe is the best. :) |
|
| The Starting Line – The Best of Me Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i love this song..i heard it for the first time a couple days ago and had to download it. and it kinda goes with my name.. :) | |
| Tiffany – I'm Not Sleeping Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i looooooooove this song. believe it or not, it's one of my all-time favorites. and i don't really have many so that's saying a lot. both the lyrics and music are just beautiful to me. | |
| Placebo – Spite and Malice Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| i love this song. | |
| The Ataris – 1*15*96 Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| some of you make it sound like the genre is more important than the music. if you're one of those people, you shouldn't even bother commenting. you're just making yourselves seem idiotic. | |
| Vanessa Carlton – Swindler Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| love it.. and yes, it should have been on the album. | |
| Vanessa Carlton – Rinse Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
wow. i feel so cheated. i downloaded what i thought was this song a long time ago, but it was just the chorus looped for 4 minutes. eheh. i think mangomaz's description is just about perfect. i can completely relate to this song. the line "what could be worse than leaving something behind?" kind of stands out for me because that question is pretty much the way i think, if that makes any sense. you could be waiting for someone to call you and finally you go out, and the second you leave the phone rings, and if you'd stayed one more second you'd have been there to answer it. (that's just a layman's example kind of thing, and that probably isn't what the line was meant to convey but that's how i see it..) anyway, that is the worst feeling, something coming seconds too late. and i'm rambling and probably making no sense. |
|
| Vanessa Carlton – Prince Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| this isn't exactly one of my favorites, but it's still great. | |
| Vanessa Carlton – More Than Wanted Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
g r e a t song. she's saying that she thought this guy was good, and could be good for her, but he just doesn't comprehend or see how good she is. he's aloof and blind to her, and unwilling to work to see who she really is. that's my take. |
|
| Vanessa Carlton – Paint It Black (Rolling Stones cover) Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| best cover of a song i've heard. she's incredibly talented and i definitely don't see her as simply a pop singer. i don't see this song as dark at all, but if it seems so to anyone, that's good. there's nothing wrong with a little darkness. good song from keith, and vanessa sings it well. she has great taste. | |
| Slipknot – The Heretic Anthem Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| wow, slip66knot666.. without all those repetitive and useless obscenities, you don't sound like such an idiot. :) | |
| Cradle of Filth – Cruelty Brought Thee Orchids Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| awesome. | |
| The Ataris – Your Boyfriend Sucks Lyrics | 22 years ago |
|
dntblivemi, you are awesome. guys who say what you said and mean it are the only kind worth the time. i could only wish for a guy to feel for me the way you feel about your friend. she doesn't know how lucky she is. still, i do understand why she would make generalizations about guys. there are too many of them that give the good ones a bad name. |
|
| Slipknot – The Heretic Anthem Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| hmm...sensitive much? | |
| Fiona Apple – When the Pawn... Lyrics | 22 years ago |
| wow. | |
| Slipknot – Only One Lyrics | 22 years ago |
